| The Octy is the best car I have ever owned, straight up. I have the new shape, but would not have objected to the 04 model and indeed, would have got it but an L&K didn't come up in my area, so I went for the 05 elegance. From what I have read, the older model has slightly restricted rear leg room and there have been numerous comments about water entering the boot on the hatch version, but this can be easily fixed with a dose of silicon in the right places. All in all, I don't honestly think you'll be disappointed and the L&K has some lovely extras. Welcome to Briskoda BTW, this suggests you've already made your mind up! ![]() |

| You're very welcome! I do like the leather too, what colour car & interior? If the kids are young you will be fine, mine are getting bigger, oh joy.

| I'm about to say goodbye to my Mk1 octy after 3 years and 80k miles. Mine is a 110bhp Elegance so it's very similar to the L&K without the leather interior and Xenons. It's averaged about 53mpg in that time and has been very reliable indeed. Assuming you get a decent price then go for it

| Just trading the wifes LK 110 for a mk 2 vRS, Enjoyed the LK and it gave about 40 mpg round town, 55 mpg on mway steady 70.(ish) Should be very little differance in economy in the cars you are looking at. You just need to decide wether you want the extras found on the lk ie heated leather, zennons sunroof etc. Would say the price of the lk is reasonable as this is not far from the trade in we have got for a 2004 53 plate estate with 35k. We have had no probs in ownership and no rattles etc. Allthough trading for a mk 2 IMO the quality of the materials has not nescasrily improved, not keen on brittle plastic tray cover on top of dash, for instance. Any way both excellent cars so hope you enjoy whichever you choose.

| I love the mark 2 elegance although of course I haven't owned a mark 1. There are definite improvements such as the rear leg room, slightly improved interior and higher air con switches, alarm, side air bags as standard, slightly improved handling, sweet six speed gear box etc. I am not sure about mpg because I don't know the L&K spec you were interested in. However, the 1.9 Tdi is 53 average to the gallon, insurance group 8 and tax band C. Jon.

| would like to mention that whilst i was on test drive i found MK 2 a bit more stable on road around bends roundabouts etc.etc.when i mentioned this i was told it has 17" wheels as factory fitted option which included uprated suspension.not sure whether this is true or not but the dealers were not bias to one car.could anyone confirm whether this is true and how would i know if the wheels were just aftermarket without suspension upgrade. i did not want to ask the dealer if i could testdrive standard setup as i was happy with car just curios if this is true or not |

| The factory fit 17" are 5 spoke wheels as show on most of the pics on Skoda's website

| Weve had a Mk1 L&K 110 & its fantastic, 3 years & 112000 miles, brilliant car & effortlessly does the job asked of it. Its my Wifes work car so its just had to be replaced, tried the new Octy & it just didnt seem as good & a lot of the bits std on the L&K were extras on the Mk2 L&K so needed a few thousand spent on it to upgrade it. In the end we went for a Superb as it comes with all the toys as std The L&K was that good that weve kept it as a day to day hack for me. Its a truly great car. Re the Octy 2 Ive heard a couple of people say the Factory fit 17" wheels & sports suspension can get to feel a bit harsh after a while
