AirBag Light diagnostics

Hi all, when i got into my car yesterday, as i sat into the seat the air bag light came on. I've disconnected the battery for an hour to see if it cleared the fault - but the light came back on upon ignition.

Could i have loosened the connector in the seat? Is it a VAG-COM jobby? Is there anyone out there in my area (Loughborough) who wants to read the fault codes for a tenner?Lumox fitted my cruise last week, and read the codes afterwards, finding no faults at all, so must be something that has occured this week.

Any idea's folks, i've got 800 miles to do between now and wednesday, i'm worried that i don't have any airbag's to save my life.

What about disconnecting the battery and checking the connector under the drivers seat.

You couldn't PM me as I was on holiday and tuned them off to save me an onslaught when I got back.

Your handy with a pair of wire cutters and crimpers I would have thought seeing as what you do for a living. Disconnect the battery and then disconnect the plug. You should have three wires on the side airbag plug. Will be something like black to white, blue to green and a common brown. If your confident enough cut the plug out and join the wires back together with a good quaility heatshrink crimp connector. The connectors are crap and a resistance builds up and logs the fault.

Disconnecting the battery wont work for clearing a code, usually it stores a fault due to low voltage. But as you say it was clear when we did the cruise control. Really need to check the fault codes specifically though to see what the issue is.
