Question alarm system

the 2004 octy ambiente estate i drive has central locking and the remote works, but when i lock or unlock the car, the indicators don't flash. the car deadlocks, and the red light in the driver's door blinks but the indicators don't flash. Although the light comes on on the driver's door, if someone is in the car, nothing happens, except that they can't use the door to get out of the car. can someone please help me

Have the lights ever flashed? It's a feature which can be turned on or off with VAG-COM.

Also, do you know for sure that the car has an alarm? I'm fairly sure the Ambiente doesn't come with one as standard.

If you have someone in the car when you lock it, they won't be able to get out because of the deadlocks. As far as I know, the flashing light on the door flashes when the deadlocks are active.

the lights have never flashed to the best of my knowledge, but there are many other ambiente octys down here. there are only about 3 elegance models and only 2 L&K models. but the other ambientes have the alarms

If your car has a alarm then if it is like the fabia then if you lock the doors and dead lock from inside the car then force the interior handle should set the alarm off.

It's a strange one mate, not sure on the octavia but I presume the alarm system would be the same as the fabia, give it a try and see what happens but chose your time right.

An easy way to test the alarm on the Octy is to lock the car with the remote and then unlock and open the boot (using the key in the boot lock). The alarm should sound. If it doesn't, then I would check the siren first. These are known to die regularly and the design has recently been changed. Failing that, it sounds like the convenience unit could be having a paddy.

hi, i took the car in, they checked it and said it was an electrical problem. i'll have to rebook that, but it'll have to be done after the front passenger window motor is changed. it stopped working on friday. the tech unplugged and plugged it back in and it started making a ticking sound. he said it shut down.
