Default Bleeding Brakes - caution !

This months Car Mechanics (Feb) has a story on bleeding the brakes on the Octavia, and says that when you try to pump the pressure back up after changing the fluid, you find that you carn't, as a seal gets damaged in the master cylinder ! You have to buy a new master cylinder as there is probably a burr inside which damages the seals when the piston goes its full travel inside.

Not come accross it on Octavias myself but then I use a pressure bleeding system at work.

Used to happen loads on Vauxhalls years ago though after pushing the pistons back in the caliper.

I've heard of it on the Mk4 golf which I assume is basically the same.
