| Guys, I'll be the first to admit that I am no car mechanic and to be honest don't really have a clue when it comes to things going wrong etc.... However I have noticed that my brake disc and pads will need replacing ASAP, my question is what exactly do I need to really need to replace them. I've seen peeps asking this before and people responding with up rated brakes options etc but I just want the basic factory fitteed types as I don't really speed....:-) So any ideas? Secondly I have only had my car one month and this needs doing already, will this be covered and should I play my face? Cheers Marc |

| They may do it under goodwill, but it will be the dealer not Skoda that will cover them. Standard brakes work just fine for a standard car.

| I was looking at uprated pads on standard discs mainly because the m/way is so full of people who don't indicate and pull across three lanes down here. (Guess what brand most of them drive). Anyway EBC, Pagid and Mintex all do high quality OE pads and disks. For an MY03 Octy 1.9TDI the prices I was quoted for OE grade parts are: - Front Discs (Pair) £59 Inc VAT - Rear Discs (Pair) £49 Inc VAT - Front Pads (both wheels) £33 Inc VAT - Rear Pads (both wheels) £18 Inc VAT This totals just shy of £160 for new parts all around. Spoke to two independant garages (VAT registered ones) and they both quoted approximately £100 wort of labour to change the lot if i provided parts. I know these are good quality parts as used same manufacturer on previous car for OE brakes. Re Warranty - Brakes are not covered as they are wear items, however as Lummox said the dealership may do it as a good will gesture.
