Default Central Locking / Electrics Issue (Again)

I recently bought an 03 vRS (love it by the way ) but am getting the age old, so it seems, issue of faulty central locking/electric mirror control. I've done a search on here and it seems to be related to the CCU. I'm pretty sure the garage I bought the car from, not a Skoda specialist, tried replacing it without success The part they replaced looked a bit like a small hair dryer. Any further suggestions? Thankfully the garage have agreed to sort this at no cost to myself

Cheers/Nic

This has happened to mine for the second time.

Last time the convenience unit was replaced under warranty but when fitted this didn't work either. The chaps at Skoda traced it to the plug that connects to the unit. Anyway they replaced it and happy days. Last week the same fault effecting elec mirrors, drivers door CL appeard. Took the door card off and by pushing on the loom the fault dissappered. Undid the plug and that blue mould you get on electrical components was everywhere. Cleaned the plug up and now the fault is intermitant. Rubbish design and not best pleased. My dad has an Audi and he loves to take the mik, and he gets plenty of opportunities!

Oh and its no longer covered by a warranty

Blue mould -product oif damp /moisture ?If so clean up then
, WD40 ,or if still about one of the ignition sprays (used to cure Mini IGNITION PROBS )---SORT OF PLASTICISER SPRAY THaT REPELS MOISTURE .Or once clean -self amalgamating tape - sort of rubber tape ,with backing -pull it as you apply ,rub with hands and it vulcanises each layer .

I cleaned with electrical contact cleaner, applied WD-40 and worked with a tooth brush and a soft haired brush. Now the problem is on and off but the only way to get a good contact is to pull the loom towards the side impact bar but unfortunatly the window comes down so close to this unit this isn't possible. The plug is basically dead and you know what they say about flogging a dead plug - or something!
Im an electrical engineer so i knew it wasn't looking good. Skoda 0 - Audi twenty something .

Hi
I had similar problems with the controller wiring loom in the drivers door - the connector pins were so corroded I could not repair them. The fix was simple enough - a new loom for about £50. It took about 2 hours to fit (dismantle everything, disconnect old loom from footwell, and reassemble with new loom). I did this 2 years ago, used lots of WD40 and self-amalgamating tape, so far no more problems.

I did a post on this subject around June 06 (search my user name), it had links to pictures which you might find useful.

cheers
