| Hi all, I have had a form of the dreaded central locking problem. Probs: Locking remotely from key locks all doors and boot apart from drivers door. If locking from inside the car on the unit on the drivers door, all lock apart from drivers door. Electric mirror is faulty. If I put it on left or right only the left mirror moves. Little red LED in top of door is not flashing. (immobiliser)? Things tried so far: New lock fitted after I removed the old one and dismantled it but didn't put it back right so it didn't work properly. The scart lead thing that is in the drivers door that connects to the control unit has been removed but there is no corrosion at all?? Just had the Cam belt done at a local garage and he diagnosed problems in the off side front central locking module and off side front heated mirror. Is that the control unit or do you need the code to understand fully what is wrong. Or do you need to go to skoda to get it checked. Any ideas appreciated!!!

| Did he scan for fault codes?, if so what are they? Washer pipe off in the the tailgate, soaking the electrical connections there? Broken wire in the door loom? |

| Fordfan, No he didn't give me the codes he just told me as above. Just checked the rear washer and that all works ok. I did spill a beer can in the boot a little while ago... maybe that could have done it? I also replaced the indicator bulbs recently.. could that have done it?? Should I check the passenger door for water, does that side also have a control unit? I didn't see any broken wires and I had a pretty good look around.. If i get specific fault codes will that help? I know i'm clutching at straws here but i'd really like this fixed. Thanks for your help!

| Hi Same symptoms as a fault on my car that was traced to no power to the control module in the door caused by corrosion in the connector. If you don’t have any corrosion try testing for power to the module, red and white striped wire I think. Good luck |

| I have precisely the same problem, 03 VRS all door locks bar drivers work on key fob, red led on continuously. can only lock drivers door with key. Skoda dealer today charged £43 to conclude moisture in door, need a new control unit and door wiring loom and quoted repair at £403! Would be interested to find if there's a cheaper solution |

| hewmcd, Thats what I think my problem is too... Out of interest what fault codes come up?? If it was me then I would get a new control unit and put that in first myself. Real easy to do and the unit is about £200 from what I hear on here. If that doesn't work then I would buy a new loom and have a go at fitting that or get some1 else to fit it if you can't do it. Obviously if you know that you can replace the loom with no problems then buy that first as that is only £60. I am skint at the minute so I will be sticking to locking with the key! Anyone else got any ideas, I am presuming that it is a straight swap and there is no programming needed??

| I had a similar problem last year... see post below. As you can see there was a shed load of fault codes, but if you ignore the ones for seat memory position, they all point to the door control module & wiring. This was replaced and all has been fine since. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octav...53/#post786274

| I've got a problem with my central locking too, I think I've narrowed it down to the control unit in the rear door. I did get my car plugged in and didnt get any error codes, even though the central locking is screwed, so I guess its a mechanical error that it doesnt pick up, anyone know where a good place to get a control unit from? is it worth looking in scrapyards? |
