Default Cheap tyres wanted for RS

Hi.

Any recommendations for cheap tyres for the RS. I don't want anything fancy, as I'm not doing any fancy driving now I've recently notched up 6 points!

I had some Toyo Proxes T1-S I got for £80 each, they were decent, not cheap enough though ? You can still get Pirelli P6000s in independents, they're not very good but £60ish for branded is not bad.

I've just been looking around for tyres for my vRS.

As your in Watford check out St Albans Car Clinic 01727867747 or try Top Gear in St Albans www.topgear.co.uk.

I also tried piv34uk on www.merityre.co.uk.(fellow briskodian)

With tyres IMO you get what you pay for, I came off a track event last year with 4 bald tyres & went to the nearest tyre depot & all they had that were cheap was a set of Fuldas, looked a good tread pattern so I bought them, unfortunately the grip was useless. Bear in mind that the tyre is the only thing connecting you to the road & I hate to sound like an old **** but when that kid runs out in front of you you havent time to change your tyres.

Re Toyos, great tyre & a good cprice but they do tend to wear fairly quickly, I run them on the 4x4 & usually manage about 10,000 miles on the fronts assuming I dont do any track days, on the track you can destroy the fronts in a day from new

Where did you get either from - I can't see any tyres under £100+?

I was quoted £89 for Toyos. Tornado's in 225/45/17s are really ok... £60 max fitted and balanced with VAT from independents. Check out the local paper (jeez I sound like my Dad ). I got a good recommendation by going to Hi-Q, looking at their £130+ repmobile tyres and pleading poverty and then getting sent down the road to a mates mates garage

PM Phil (piv34uk)...he works for Merityre. A bit closer to you than Micheldever, which I have found to be the cheapest around and only 5 minutes from me.
