Clunking noise on full lock?

I haven't really used my Octy Vrs since Christmas (150 miles) but this morning while pulling out of my drive on full lock I am getting a clunking sound from the front, almost like a spring on an old chair if that makes any sense. It also seems to be creaking a bit from the front right going over speed bumps.

I'm hoping these are both linked and it's just the ARB links or bushes but I'm not sure.
It's a 51 plate with 45,500 miles on it and the bushes were replaced about 2 years ago.

Any info and help would be appreciated before I have to spend time and money at the local dealers.

I got through two changes of bushes (eg three sets total) inside of three years.

Try lubeing the bushes with some fairy and if it goes away then you know it is the ARB/Bushes/Drop links.

it's my wife that drives it now and I told her to look/listen out for strange noises/feelings coming from the car so I think she likes to keep me informed. the descriptions have come from her so until i try it myself I have to take her work for it.

She is pretty good now at keeping me up to date now instead of leaving things until I notice them.

The fairy is only a fault locating thing in case that wasn't obvious to you and won't last for long.

Might be a dry cv joint?

I knew it would just be for fault finding but better having an idea before putting it into the dealer and them coming up with the usual expensive combinations or even the wrong thing.

No that feeling my local vw garage did that to me when i had a vr6 mk2 golf they tried to sting me left right and centre. Luckly moving to Skoda has found me an awsome dealership (Carlisle). Hope you get things sorted.

if its clicking with full lock on its cv joint if its just 1 knock go 4 bottom ball joint if in a straight line its a thud every time you go over a speed ramp it could be anti roll bar bushes or/and drop link arms or shocker top bearings.........enjoy finding out!!!!!!!

Well I've been out this evening and had a good look and applied Fairy to every joint and bush I could see.
The noise did seem to improve a little but I feel I can describe better now I've been able to experience it myself rather than trying to use her description.
It creaks going over most bumps on the road but when applying full lock it creaks and sounds like a spring under compression moving slightly on a shaft.

Any thoughts now I've been able to describe it better?

Well the Vrs has been into an independent garage this morning and inspected it.
It turns out to be a broken coil spring from the driver's side front suspension. I did have a good look but without a ramp and the where the break might be it is easy to miss.
At least it's only £56 plus fitting (1 hour-1 1/2 hours). Could have been a lot worse.

This sounds very similar to a knocking noise i have recently discovered on my octy. Does yours make the sound on flat level ground when on full lock or is it if the ground is uneven??

It's worse on full lock but a noise can be heard when going over bumps in the road.
It is a lot more noticeable now that the garage has had a look and obviously lifting the car up onto a ramp and inspecting it has moved the spring when the car's weight was removed from the spring, but even when it first happened it was quite an alarming sound when the spring moved when the steering was moved onto full lock.

would be the cause of springs breaking? The sound as described is very similar to that my sons car makes.
Springs, after all, are designed for compression and this seizure applies a heavy a torque load.
