That plus i believe you need access to a VAG-COM to enable it on the ECU.

Its all you need if you have a TDi. If you've got a 1.8T then you'll need an additional loom to connect the loom in the kit to the control module.

It's actually cheaper to buy the parts from VW dealers, about £37 for the stalk control and £18 for loom.

There are two types of stalk available - the best IMHO, is the one with 2x buttons on the end of the stalk, which is a newer version.

It's very fiddly to fit, so don't buy on a whim.

You'll need to remove steering wheel/airbag - you'll need to buy a particular adapter to fit your socket wrench.

Worst bit is having to remove scuttle panel (I snapped mine) and windscreen wiper motor to get at the ecu connections. These connections are a right swine to work on.

You'll need to pursaude some one or some dealer with VAG com to enable the cruise, once fitted.

But...................it is worth it!

Don't be put off - it's not all bad news. Cruise is great when you get it too.

Are there any non-dealership companies that people would recommend who will supply & fit the whole lot for you?

Do a search mike. Someone on here used a place up north that worked out at a good price. Is it Fabia or Octy?

If anyone in the North East wants Cruise fitting to an Octavia vRS (I wouldn't want to do a Fabia, I've seen what people go through) and gets the bits (I also would strongly recommend the two button on the end stalk, not the slidey switchy one) I will be happy to do it/help do it for beer tokens. It's fiddly but not that difficult, took me about four hours when I did mine but now I know the procedure I reckon it's about a two to three hour and four cuppa job. I also have VAG-COM when I get my laptop back!

First thing I did when I bought my vRS and it's saved my license on more than one occasion!

I'm also willing to help out down south. Done two 2005 Fabia's already and for those of you who saw the pictures of the first one don't worry it can be done quite easily without taking the dashboard out - Now I know what i'm doing!!

Without trying to do Big K out of business (as I am in the south of the country!!!). Would you be interested in the complete job to a 2003 Octavia TDI (Supply and fit new stalk, and associated programming)?

If so, have much?

I don't want to do it for money but I'd happily help you out. I have the tools and VAG-COM. Where are you - I'm in Hampshire.

Stu.

That part number is different to the one I was given over on UKMKIV's - That started with 1J0. I assume thats where the confusion lies.

Yeah 1JO is the VW number. Same stalk though.

Handy to know as VW seem to have a better parts network, usually next day whereas Skoda quote 2.
