Dogbone Mount and Strut brace Fitted

Have fitted a powerflex dogbone mount this morning.

Found a slight more vibration inside the cabin but wheel 'hop' has been greatly reduced.

Also noticed the exhaust noise has slightly increased, ie more boomy at low engine speeds. The exhaust was already quite noisy, blue flame full system, minus centre box and a powerflow rear silence box.

Also fitted a neuspeed strut brace. Have not driven the car with this on so don't know if it has made any difference with the handling.

The main one to do which youll really notice is the rear ARB if you havent already one fitted.

Will be getting a whiteline rear anti roll bar very soon.

Wheel 'hop' is what I normally experience when driving extremely hard over not so flat surfaces, the wheels are not in contact with the road frequently 'hopping' up and down, not ideal for handling or performance.

Ahhhhhh recessed manhole covers etc. I notice it a fair amount in mine.

Think I'll be going for the whiteline ARB soon too - was going to get one as part of the groupbuy a while ago but the cash had to go elsewhere at the time...

I have also noticed this now more often

Let us know if the mount has made any difference

Could be my next upgrade (Along with a few other things)

Dogbone mount makes a difference especially if you car has done a few miles.

When i fitted mine the vibration settled down after a few hundred miles.

Very worthwhile mod,that only costs around £16.

wheelhop can be experienced on flat surfaces as well - I got it bad at Santa Pod which is what broke a driveshaft in the end. I think the vibration is caused by a combination of suspension and engine movement. Clearly, engine movement is restricted by an uprated engine dogbone mount, so wheelhop i curtailed. I can't wait to fit my Jabbasport dogbone.

Wheel hop is caused by the flex in the front subframe and can happen on any surface once the wheels break traction. The best method is to brace the subframe with weld in supports but the dogbone does a good job and makes the gearbox/engine a structual part of the assembly.
The dog bone also prevents the flexi joint on your exhaust down pipe breaking due to the rocking of the engine. A highly recomended part for little cost and does soften/bed in after a few miles!

Also well worth getting the inner and outer wishbone bushes done in Powerflex, really does make a difference, especially with coilovers.
Also consider the Neuspeed 28mm adjustable rear ARB, worth every penny as it transforms the handling of the car.

Also get the S3 lower brace on if you havent got it on already.

I think it was only about £30 max from the dealers when i bought mine

The strut brace was very easy to fit.

The curvature at each end of the strut brace lines up with the curvature of the suspension mounts so its a case of pushing the strut brace against the raised lip of the suspension mount and then drilling the 2 off holes on each side.

By jacking the car up I was able to squeeze my arm inbetween the wheel and arch to fasten the washer and nuts to the bolts which were placed from the top.

Think I will also get the S3 lower brace also and wishbone bushes. And with the uprated rear anti roll bar which I will be ordering very soon the handling should be sorted

the fabia dogbone mount is for the hardcore element of the comunity

mine has been on for over 1000miles and it still rattles fillings at idle,makes a big diference getting the power down tho
