| Hi there!, i have another question.... whats the difference betwen the manual gearbox that we can find on the diesel and gasoline octy?? i have a friend that has a 1.6 glxi '99 auto octy and another that has the 1.9 tdi manual octy. the thing is that the one that has the stick gearbox prefers to drive auto and the one that has the auto trans, prefers to drive stick. but they wonder if petrol and gas engines can use the gearboxes of each other without any issue. |

| Basically the ratios and final drives are usually different on a diesel gearbox to a petrol one to suit the lower rev limit. Also there are a couple of different types of gearbox. the 1.6 will more than likely use the 02K rod shift box and the diesel will use the 02J cable shift box.

| Also it's not as easy as just swapping the gearboxes. You'd have to swap the pedal boxes, check the torque capacity of the boxes, sort out the engine end change down controls for the auto, I suspect in this case change the brake reservoirs (manual uses a common reservoir for brakes and hydraulic clutch system). |
