| Out in one of our local taxis last night, Octy 1 diesels. This one had 230.000 miles on the clock and driver said they had another with 260,000 on. Apart from new gearboxes each and the usual wear and tear nothing else had gone wrong. Not bad eh!! |

| They're good cars, taxi drivers seem to love them. And I can see why, they're comfortable and fairly reliable. Which is why I own one! I had a convo with a Skoda Superb owning taxi driver a while back and he told me he likes Skoda's cos the way Skoda UK treat taxi drivers and that they are immensely reliable and cheap to fix. |

| We have a regular customer with a 1999 Octavia estate. It was in a week or so ago for a service at 260,000 miles. It is still on its original clutch. |

| I run a garage owned by a taxi company in Royston, Herts. They've owned several Octavias and Superbs which have all covered well over 200,000 miles with all the major mechanicals being original.Fantastic cars.

| Yep, when in Wales last year I went in an Octy SDI with well over 300k on the clock, was so impressed I started a thread up IIRC... The SDIs seem to like gearboxs then, this driver said his was on its 3rd, but still wouldn't want anything else. Also went in a 54 plate Superb taxi with 145k on the clock and it was like new. ![]() |

| HI When I worked at the dealers I did warranty claims , the gearbox`s was a majour problem with them Many would be on their 3rd DUS box , same as the 1.4 and 1.6 MK4 Golf`s and they have problems too ![]() Hazzard switches are another one that went quite quickly too But other than that I must admit that I have seen many many with 250k on them Majority of them was still under warranty too ![]() Sarah |

| My Octavia is up to 231,000, it isn't a Taxi, it's a 1998 1.6 AKL GLXi, I've had it from new, same gearbox, original clutch, no engine problems at all, it's done most of the miles being driven accross Europe 3-4 times every year, only ever had a few issues with a door lock and some idling issues due to a temp sensor. Runs perfectly and gets an oil change every 5-6000 miles, all electrics still work, including air-con which i get serviced every year. I plan to keep it for a while yet as bodywork etc is like new. Great car so far............! Last edited by paul1978; 20-12-2007 at 11:53. |

| Suddenly I'm think my replacement for my Felicia, might be an Octavia! From all these posts, would I be right in assuming that it's the diesel versions which have the longest lives? |

| think its safe to say they do, aslong as there serviced well and generally taken care of, then you shouldnt have any major problems.
