Default I have eliminated my brake squeel and Moo-ing

Just thought I'd put my finding in place.

6 months after buying my vRS, I changed the rear pads and discs. Pagid pads and Zinnerman discs from GSF. Instantly there was moo-ing on reversing and also over the past 6 months I've had squeeling on braking which had got worse.

So I bought some mintex brake pads from eBay, only cost £15 delivered. These are the same pads I have on the front.
Link is the same pads, but different seller:
SKODA FABIA,OCTAVIA,SUPERB, REAR BRAKE PADS MINTEX on eBay, also, Peugeot, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 08-Apr-08 14:35:51 BST)

After 60 minutes work, the new pads were on the car and took it out for a drive and some speed to 0 sessions. I know its early days, but I dont have the Moo-ing and no brake squeel.

The new mintex pads have a sticky backing and are tapered from the edges.

Looking at the pagid pads I took off, they looked as if there was no wear to them and I'd done about 15,000 miles. They were the same thickness as the new mintex pads, only a fraction of piston winding was required. The pagid pads had a brown edge to them, I think the pads were very hard and were rubbing rather than wearing on the disc. This may have been the nature of the pads or the friction surface had hardened in the early days from my driving style.

I will keep you updated on the pads.

Sounds good.

For what it's worth, the 'modified' rear pads which can be bought from Skoda seem to have resolved the issue for me. It's interesting that Mintex have gone with a sticky backing (similar to that on OEM front pads I expect).... I've thought for some time that this may be a possible cure.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with them.

yeah ive recently fitted zimmermann rear discs with mintex xtreme pads, and after about 700miles i'm still moo free!!

as you said, leading and trailing pad edges were tapered, and they had adhesive pads on them.

My thoughts to, I think using copper grease or an alternative, it can get washed away over time, but the sticky back sticks from day one to the caliper.
