Default ipod / remove 6 disk

i have been searching the fourms for the answer but sadly i didnt find what i was looking for.

(Y reg VRS symphony)
Can you unplug the stacker and then use an ipod from this input, or is the head unit smarter with some sort of digital feedback?

i currently use a iTrip but the static as i drive the length of the country often drives me crazy always finding a new fm channel

i considered getting a new head unit but this would be a shame if its possible on the standard unit.

if anyone can help i would be greatful
Looking at some kits used to conect them costing 90quid are just a bit to much for me, i would rather get a new unit all together in that case.

I use a tape converter in mine and the quality is unbelievable. It truely is as good as a CD. However be warned there are some bad, cheap ones about. The girlfried bought me one after the cable got damaged on mine - sound quality was in the end fixed my old one which is a Goodmans if thats any use to you. Then your ipod just sits neatly in the cubby hole under the stereo

I do the same. I only use a poundland tape adapter and it works a treat.

Tape adapter for the Octy I and you can get a mount for the ipod too so you can charge it from the lighter if you wish

HI
you can use an FM modulator which works much better than an I-TRIP.
You should pick up a good quality one for around £30
HOPE THIS HELPS

thanks all for the advice, it looks like most don't try and add the ipod as an input on the unit rather use the tape.

I will have a look for the tape style players as the iTrip looses all quality and bass

I would get an aftermarket player however they are all so flashy and stick out like a sore thumb on the dash - not to mention someone is more likely to try to get into the car to steal a flashy head unit

I know what you mean about aftermarket head units looking a bit flashy - I did see this one on offer in Halfords at £99.99 which looks more 'factory'.

The model is a Blaupunkt Santa Cruz CD Player.

Blaupunkt - Car Radios - MP3 Tuners - Santa Cruz MP36

Don't know if it is any good though!

I seen that to, looks like a good buy and it has an OEM look.

Though if you take out the facia (a pain to carry around) you should be fine.
