Question Keys

Hi All,
I'm BarryD recently registered. Please forgive me if I commit any protocol errors. I am the proud owner of an of Otavia Elegance T 4x4. Unfortunatly I recently lost my spare key, And Iam worried that someone could find it and get access to the car. Is there any solution to this problen other than having a new set of locks fitted.

Regards

BarryD

You can delete the immo info from the Dash Pod so they wouldn't be able to drive it. Other than that it's new locks.

No problem Barry.

To perhaps make things a little clearer, when you buy a new key and have it coded to the car part of the process is to 'delete' the current keys from th car so it would all be covered by the same operation.

You can do keys yourself with VAG-COM.

you can buy a key from ebay quite cheaply, i have 3 now thanks to this. the key could be from a seat, an audi or a VW aswell as a skoda just make sure you get the right freqeuncy key otherwise it will not work. blank key blades are also quite cheap.

i got 3 all in for about 2/3 the cost of one from a dealer

I think they all say Fab on the blade.

Are you thinking of of getting Flip Keys then?

well maybe... i dunno. I guess I should spend money on more important things like fixing the turbo, shocks, new disks.... or maybe a new car!! I think my car paperwork said something about replacement keys when I bought it....

Lookong on ebay I see 433.9Mhz for some vw/audi keys.... does that round up to be 434, or down to 433 (what I guess I need)

I don't think they round either way do they? If they do, and its a .9 I would say it would round up. But I don't think it works like that. I'm looking at my key now and can't see a frequency but the number it has on is;
HLO 1J0 959 753 AG Both keys have that number on. They're the twin button flip keys. Don't know if that will help mind!

remember there are two parts to the key - the remote unlocking function (which the frequency and VAG part number refers to, and which you can program yourself with a simple procedure) and the immobiliser transponder part (the transponder is buried in the front blade moulding part of the key and needs to go to a dealer or specialist to program)
As stated, part of the transponder programming operation erases all keys from the system, so you have to have all current keys present to program back in at the same time. Unwanted remote unlocking codes can be cleared with Vagcom IIRC.

No you can't. To program the immo you need the 4 digit SKC.
