Default leaking pipe after turbo!!

Hi

Ok, ive had some problems with my car, one was a rattle from the exhaust, this has been resolved as the centre exhaust backet was broken, and is now replaced, but there was also a loss of power at times, had turbo wistle, but no booooooost and sometimes when flooring it, it would hit a brick wall at 2,000rpm, then carry on again???.

Just got the car back from Skoda, they have diagnosed a leaking pipe behind the turbo, they advised this is £35 for the pipe, and 1 hours labour to fit, so another £50, plus £25 for the VAG COM. So overall just over a ton.

If this solves the problem, then wicked, dont mind paying that, but he said these parts have been changed from the original ones??, and i said is this a recal piece, he wasnt sure.

Does anyone know if this pipe has had a recal in the past?? (sorry, not sure exactly which one, be the mechanic had to remove the wheel arch lining to get at it).

Anyway, hope its ok once this has been changed, if so im a happy boy, just seeing if i can claim for this........... also, as this is under warranty from the dealer i got this from, should i try and get my money back from them to?

Cheers

Gav

Ahhh...... there is a thread titled "Where does this pipe go?" (or similar) on here that details this pipe - Not £100% sure that is the one but it's location and price seem about right. Do a search and you should find it.

The dealer you bought it from may want to do the work themselves so I'd give them a poke for sure.

the dealer was one of those work from home places who has a brother with a dealership, so will give them a call and advise that Skoda have the car booked in to fix it, see what happens ?

Reading through the post again about 17705, im lucky that i didnt have to replace so much to find the problem as other people have done, good dealership thats why Cattermoles in Ipswich

If the car isnt under warranty and you're reasonable at DIY fixing, the job will take 20mins tops and save you £60.

i was in my local dealers not long ago and the service chap was talking to a guy about "a replacement turbo pipe" but i dont know if this is the same thing or not.

it also didnt sound like it was a recall as he quoted the guy a price for the pip and fitting.

worth checking with Skoda customer services before you take the car in though, its going to be harder to claim money back once you hand over the cash

It was never recalled and was never an FOC change (unless diagnosed as problematic while the car is/was under warranty). However it is a nown part to fail as the newer ones (that your dealer will now sell you) has a re-designed seal.

yep, as above, and the car is under warranty, about 1.5 months left and as this is not a wear and tear part, i should be able to claim for this.... tried calling to check be he isnt answering!!!!

If i was any good with DIY, it would cost £35 for the part but im not that confident, so its going in. Plus if im claiming for this, i need recipt etc........
