| I'm thinking about a Milltek exhaust for my Octavia, the standard item is starting to look tired! I'm just wondering two things: firstly, how loud is the milltek (the one with the front silencer)? I'm not into loud saxo/corsa style farting exhausts. Secondly, how do they fit? I've heard some people say they don't sit very well and can knock? Thanks in advance ![]() |

| Milltek is only slightly louder than standard and only comes into effect with you push it over 3krpm.Fitting wise, they sometimes knock if not fitted correctly.I fitted mine and it wasn't as bad as i thought, but i have access to a lift. |

| Phil i was worried and was in the exact same position as you untill i got mine. Its awesome, you dont really notice the exhaust noise has changed untill you give it full beans. Round town and when i do 90 on errrrrr my private roads its the same noise level as standard. Its the extra power it gives though like has been mentioned that you really notice |

| i have one on order from milltek at the moment.(£520 turbo back )took a long time finding out how loud it was as my current, unknown thing is driving me mad. i am 36 and the attention the car gets just pootling around town is a bit too "young" for me.it drones on motorway speeds and makes the windows vibrate when the car is sat on the drive cooling down. get the full resonated version

| Thanks for your thoughts. I've been searching and have found that the load sensor on the rear suspension of xenon-equipped cars can get in the way of the milltek exhaust....which is not good ![]() |

| That's my concern too. I was thinking about getting a custom one made locally but I'm worried about it being too loud - all the local boy racers seem to like farty bean can exhausts - not good.

| i fitted a 2-box resonated Milltek, and have to say i'm hard pushed notice any icrease in noise at all over standard (also fitted 2.5" downpipe and 200cel cat at the same time. I took ages to fit it, adjusting everything as best I could to get the best fit.. a little disappointed to find the fit's not fantastic, nothing I could do would give me as much clearance as I would like round the resonator, but to be fair it's all a bit tight. I'm sure it buzzes on the heatshield a bit, but not too intrusive. If I did it again I would be tempted to go for the non-resonated frontpipe, this would solve the clearance issues and I can't imagine it could be THAT much louder? *Edit* I should emphasise my total satisfaction regarding the quality of the system, and the performance improvement (albeit in conjunction with downpipe/Cat), It's only the tight clearance issues that caused me any concern at all, maybe I was unlucky ![]() Last edited by richm; 04-06-2007 at 09:31. |

| I have a full milltek with xenons and don't have any adverse effects. The system isn't loud at all.

| For what it's worth, John at PipeWerx - Performance Exhaust Specialist did me a great price on Milltek as well as very good advice regarding noise levels and stuff.Maybe also worth considering their custom systems if you are willing to travel a bit? |

I agree with those people!!!! mines definately doesnt fit well but after a number of tries it is now in the right place. It doesn't seem to affect the xenon level sensor. This is not a boy racer loud exhaust, i have had a number of those when i was younger and this certainly isn't one of those and i don't have the resenator pipe i still think its a bit to quiet actually!!!!! but i am looking at getting the downpipe and 200cel cat!!! | Thanks for all your views. I bought a cat-back system second hand from a member on here, and fitted it today. I was actually quite impressed with the fit, considering the bad name they have for that. After it was first put on it knocked all the time on the rear axle but I sorted that with a little adjustment. No knocking at the moment but I'll see how it is with a full load - it may need a bit more tinkering with. The xenon sensor was no problem, there is about 80-10mm clearance. ![]() |

| IMG_3583 (Large).JPG IMG_3584a (Large).JPG a couple of views of my Milltek centre box showing how close it sits to the heatshield at the back end. The sliding joint is only engaged the minimum amount to allow it the small clearance that it has in the picture. My conclusion is that the bend angle where it comes out of the back of the box is ever so slightly out, so forcing it to pull over that bit. To be fair there isn't much clearance at the best, and I'm sure a non-resonated pipe in it's place would sort all the issues. |
