Default mk4 golf gearbox in a 1.9 tdi skoda octavia

Hi everyone my gearbox just blew on my octy on saturday and im having a mk4 golf gearbox fitted on thursday i was just wondering what difference does it make in performance because of the ratios in the box? Will it perform any better? cheers

interesting... a friend drove my 110TDi the other day and she thought that 3rd gear was different in mine than her same aged 110TDi Golf mk4

I was going to make a post and ask if they were the same boxes, but never go around do it.

Maybe just the difference between two high mileage cars (both over 120k each)

AIUI, if it's the same box code, the ratios etc are all the same. The Golf is about 100kg lighter though.
