Default Octavia getting the attention it deserves

I was picking up SWMBO on saturday lunch time from her work. I pulled into the side of the road outside her office as she finished talking to her friends. 4 blokes in their early 20s walked past as i waited, and i noticed two of them stare back.

When SWMBO got into the car she daid that as the guy were walking past, one of them was staring at the car quite a bit, and as they past it he said "mmmm, nice looking Skoda", as if he was surprised. His mate then also had a look.

My Octy is a standard looking 110TDI Elegance, so i was well chuffed to hear that they thought it was a nice looking car.

I think attitudes are definitely changing. The old advertising campaign skoda had with the production line guys not believing it was a skoda isn't far of the mark any more.

JD (well pleased)

Default TDI elegance

I agree, people are appreciate the brand a lot more these days, what Tuning Box do you have on it, as I am looking to put one on my TDI. The car gives excellent mpg but with plenty of great driving experience. Following a trip to Germany, Czech republic, Austria and back to Germany, I did over 2500 miles in two weeks over varios conditions, autobahns etc and got an average of 52.5 mpg. In my eyes, what a car

I have a german tuning box which i bought on ebay for around £60. I hear a lot of talk about dragon tuning boxes, but if the ones which are selling on ebay for £120 are just resistor boxes (analogue), then i would just do what i did. However, if you can pick up a digital tuning box for less than £150, i think it would be a better buy. The box i have gives great gains in torque above 2,000rpm, but i don't think it would be as smooth as a digital box.

If you are starting to look for a tuning box, i would suggest you look at a recent copy of Diesel car magazine. It has quite a few adverts for various tuning boxes, and usually will have a road test of a chip/ remap/ tuning box. If you go onto their website http://www.dieselcar.com/ then go into articles and A-Z tuning.

If you see any good deals on digital tuning boxes will you post them, as i may opt for a digital box further down the line.

Hope this helps

JD

Just after I got my Vrs, I was driving through Silverstone, in convoy with our marketing manager, who also had a Vrs. We stopped at the traffic lights, and a couple of blokes wandered out of the pub, did a double take, and one said, "F**k me, they're both f**king Skodas!" -a similar compliment, but a bit more robust!

Phil,

I would expect that for a vRS, heck even i would say that for a vRS, but not for a standard Elegance. Thats why i was so pleased.

Bunch of kids about twelve yrs old shouted "nice car mister" and proceeded to go on about(in an admiring way) that it was a skoda.

Made me feel all young and cool

Only downside was the fact I was driving throgh a 'Max Power' street lined with blinging BMW's Rover's and Calibra's.I'm still taking it as a compliment from the buyers of the future
