Default possible vRS DV problems

Guys,

What are the symptoms of a failing DV?

When driving my vRS in low gears (most noticable in 1st or 2nd at around 2-3k rpm under part load) the car occasionally jerks and lurches like boost pressure is being dumped and then re-applied. Is this indicative of a failing DV or N75 valve?

Cheers

I had a failing DV, mainly noticable when cold. Do a search for 17705 and it'll throw loads of info up . Any fault codes showing up ?

Do fault codes trigger any warning lights on the dashboard or do I need to interrogate the ECU with VAG-COM?

Currently no warning lights are showing.

In the 3 years I had the fault on my car (35k) the engine light only came on 2 or 3 times, even though the fault was on the car nearly the whole time.

Other people have had the same fault code as me ie 17705 with different fixes.

See http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showt...ighlight=17705

But that hesitation was quite noticable in mine when cold.

i've just took the DV off my oct vRS for exactly the same reason. It was a DVK007 atmos dump valve. They don't work properly because of the mass air flow sensor. If the valve you had on had a blank plug for the air box pipe then that's ya problem. You need it replaced with a Bailey DV30. Same effect but it's a recurculating DV so your air flow sensor'll work properly.

I'm still using the stock (re-circulating) DV.

I took the car out for a drive today but could not replicate the hesitation - should I be pleased that it is running well or annoyed that it decided not to play ball

I guess that I need to find someone who is equipped with VAG-COM near Bristol.

Pop the little vacuum hose off the top, connect up a length of hose (washer tube maybe) and give it a gentle suck, if you can keep sucking its knackered.
