Default Re-map questions

Hi, i am thinking of starting on the slippery slope of having a re-map on my currently standard VRS. just wondering if anyone has had a generic map done from jabba sport and if so what they think of it or is it worth going the whole hog and havng custom code done.

does having a re-map affect the amount of fuel used (seeing as it cost me over 50 Quid to fill up last night!!)

is it liabel to cause excess engine wear with the greater power prodiced etc and if so is it likely to cost me an arm and a leg in clutches drive shafts etc etc.

sorry if these seam like divvy questions but as you may just notice i have no previous experiance of re-maps etc.

I had my 1.8T re-mapped at Jabba last October. I went for the generic map which Jabba say gives 206-212 BHP and around 220 lb/ft of torque.

I have to say it was well worth it. It is like having a new car again when it is done.

I had no intentions to do anything else really so just went for the generic one. However i now have vRS springs and dampers and bigger brakes getting fitted soon too.

My personal view is that you are unlikely to do any damage to the engine after a generic remap. Some of the guys on here are running custom maps with significantly more power than the figures i have quoted you with few problems to report.

My average MPG has gone down by about 1 MPG, a price worth paying for the extra "fun" you can have. On a steady run i can get in the low 40's on the motorway.

If you are intending on getting a FMIC and full turbo back exhaust systems then i would say it is probably best to get these type of things done with a custom map.

However if you just want a lot of "bang for your buck" then i can't rate the genric map i got done highy enough.

Any more questions just let me know

I have a JBS Custom Code map (phase 1, generic map)
It's well worth the money, and my average MPG hasn't really changed.

I have a Jabba custom map with, more recently, their variable boost controller. MPG is the same after the remap, even though the power is way up on the original 150bhp.
