Default Think i might need new droplinks?

Ok i've done a search and found a few threads regarding a clunking noise when turning sharp left, seems it could be droplinks. I have this noise and it's getting worse the reason i think it is the droplinks is because i have replaced the front arb/ bushes, fitted superpro wishbone bushes and recently had new koni fsd dampers, and the standard springs are all ok. So it seems to point to the droplinks, yes? I think they fairly cheap to buy, anyone know the part no/ price? Need to sort this bloody clunking sound out, it was quiet for a while when i had the new arb fitted but it's back worse then before now. cheers.

Not sure which side is which but here you go

1J0411315D
1J0411316D

If you have been disturbing them while changing suspension parts they do seem to go.

The other possibility being the radiator mounts, although that's more of a squeak usually. Costs nothing to try rocking the radiator and make sure.

Yeah what ever it is seems to be getting worse day by day, can hear it over some bumps too and when slowing down into 2nd gear then as you pull away you hear the same noise! sounds like arb noise but it cant be that! Really annoying me, and the handling seems a bit off.

Sounds exactly like the noise I had when my bottom ball joint went. As mine got worse it started clunking when slowing and then pulling away.

Yeah could well be the ball joint i supose, im going to change the droplinks first and see what the outcome is. Then if the noise is still there look at the ball joints.
The droplinks look straight forward to change, is it just a case of removing the old and replacing with the new ones?
I take it you dont need to do alignment?

Easy to fit, as you say straight swap, may be worth you doing poly arb bushes while your ther if you ain't already, not sure about alignment though, I assume you don't need as it doesn't really touch the tracking bits (track rod ends etc)

They are very easy to fit, 2 bolts hold it and a 17mm (I think) spanner is needed to stop the balljoints on the droplinks spinning, you'll see where the spanner slots on to the droplink. You will also need to jack up under the control arm to realise the tension to remove and refit the droplinks. Also there is a long and short thread on the droplink I didn't notice and fitted it upside down before i realised, longer thread at top iirc.

Good point, I did that as well

Although I had the drop links off last week and there was no need to jack the lower arm

I jacked and supported one side at a time so the arb was still under tension, I assume if the car is on stands with both wheels off you don't need to do this

Thanks lads! Yeah not done poly bushes on arb so may do this aswell, so regarding tracking for just the droplinks i can't see why it would need to be done, correct?
