Angry Vibrating in 4th...

The gear lever in my 99 SLX TDI has a vibration felt through the gear lever in 4th gear, it is present all the time but much worse under hard acceleration. It dosent do this in any other gear, i'm suspecting the linkage/cable adjustment but wondered if anyone else has any views?

No possibility the bottom of the lever's touching something (in or under the car) in 4th that it can't reach any other time?

All I can say is that neither my Elegance (same spec other than maybe power on post-facelift) nor the hired Ambiante I had did it, and I've not met a taxi driver complaining about it.
