| mrs jase has reported to me of banging brakes on the octy. at slow speed she had to anchor up quickly. she felt the pedal vibration that you get which tells you of the ABS being out range, but she says she heard a banging noise too, quite loud apparently. i can't say i have heard this niose myself though have felt the pedal judder as both my seats did, when the abs was out of range. first time she heard it, she stopped and got out to see if there was a probem. it was that loud.(some months back now) this was before i changed the pads,i'm now convinced this time i haven't tightened the caliper bolts up enough, can anyone tell me this is normal before i whip the front wheels off tomorow?? cheers all

| Mines creeks & groans when going backwards - not quite the same I know but.........I did reply to the 'was it you' post you made about a week ago.Cos it was me!! ( well, my car anyway) I would check the calipers though as I had a similar thing after I replaced the disks on my Omega - went away after I torqued the caliper bolts correctly. | When I was young and foolish, I got all sorts of funny noises out of the braking system of my previous car (clonks etc) whilst playing with the ABS on sheet ice, which were completely normal. Having said that, I'm not a car tech., and if you're worried about the brakes, of all things, get it checked out

| Funny that, I had to brake suddenly today from quite a slow speed when some chopper decided to pull out in front of me, and had quite a loud bang at the front nearside - thought it might have been a manhole cover or something. might get that checked now - anyone know the correct torque for the caliper bolts? | i've had chance to do some testing on the mrs problem and i can confirm it was the damper bottoming out on braking. did some braking on a smooth road-no problems at all, drove into a very bumpy car park full of pot holes and managed to bottom the dampers out very easily. looks like a may need some new suspension, rather than just getting them for a sake of it
