Hello All, I was just wondering the other day, what mileage I can expect to get from my 06 reg Mk1 RS? I bought it from new and look after my cars, not really making them work too hard for a living. What sort of mileage do they get to before things start to wear out, fall off, decide not to work? I see quite a few with more than 100k on e-bay and wondered if the sellers claims of "Drives like new" or "Perfect to drive" can be true?

Mine has had a few split hoses and a MAF but otherwise has been good to me. Currently on 97k miles, suspension and ARB bushes have worn/split and could do with replacing though. Bengie's 4x4 is on 110k miles.

I wonder who has the highest mileage Octavia, whatever model? I am willing to bet that the diesel variants get much higher scores than the petrol versions. When I bought mine, the salesman said that they regularly service taxis with over 200k on the clock. Mind you, he was a salesman...

So, I've got a while to go then with only 3k on the clock. Looking forward to the next 115k eh? Mind you, at about 11 thousand miles per year, I'll be running the Octavia for about a decade to get there, will petrol even exist by then? Only joking, but I guess from what you're saying is that I shouldn't have any major worries just yet.

Took my 51 vrs in for a service the other day (has done only 24k miles!) and there was a 04 octy in that was a taxi (some kind of deisel model). The owner said its done 210k miles and still running great. The only problem he said he had was the body work was knacked. Front bumper was all flaked, same with the back. Looked horrible.

I know of a taxi TDi that did 330k miles before the turbo failed (presumably choked). It was replaced with an ebay sourced turbo and is still going.

I've done 75k in my 03 vRS from new and it hasn't missed a beat. Sailed through it's first MOT yesterday. After having owned various other marques I'm astonished at it's reliability, practicality and ability to put a smile on my face when I fancy wasting some petrol.

Erm... 125k isn't that much tbh from a modern engine. I'd expect most engines to be good for atleast 180k these days (well, other then little 1.0s and the like). I have a half cousin (or some relation, cant remember now) who is a taxi driver with a SDi Octy. A lot of taxi drivers use them, and usually the only big problem they get is the gearboxes wear out at about 200k. I bought my car when it was on 91k.. it's now on 110k... but it's not a skoda There's a volvo in Sweden apparently which has done over a million miles... now THAT is high milage ![]()

| They last age-wise pretty well too. Mine (only a 1.6 GLXi) is now 7 years and 73k miles. Just passed MOT without problem. Except for tyres and front brake pads (at 50k) is still on original everything - including the exhaust. Andy C

51 octy 1.6 and 64k, rebuilt front suspension - dampers, arb bushes and track rod ends, but that's south lanarkhire roads for you. Front pads lasted 50k, but then i don't brake for corners! Still on original exhaust which I cannot believe, I've never had a car go so far on an exhaust. Expecting 100k without any probs. Thrash it regularly and service it every 10k. Worked so far!
