1st service costs

Hi,
my car, VRS TDI Estate is due it's first service and i was curious to see what sort of money to expect to pay for it. I am on variable servicing. Also which garages in Scotland (west coast) would people reccommend?

I paid £225 for my first service (2.0 TDI 140) That was in London, rates vary a lot between dealers, not sure about Scotland but this will give you an idea.

my first service was £107 from henry's in glasgow .. My car is the TFSI vrs though .. what area of scotland are you in ?

Paid £105 in Bournemouth but mine was a 1.9TDi

We didn't pay anything here in Croatia, that is for the first and then it will be for the second service also, it was part of the sales pitch when we bought the 4x4 new last year.
We expect when we do pay to be around 150 pounds !!

yes its just along the road from the bmw garage which is now douglas park bmw .. personally i would avoid this branch of henry's ..if you can, go to the other branch henry's south which is on maxwell road you should get better service there i found the branch at kyle street to be hopeless as they have a lot of new technicians that i found couldnt care less about peoples vehicles.. as the mechanic who took mine on a roadtest after the service wheelspun out the carpark infront of me and headed up the road at speed . They also could not reset my service interval correctly as they have marked my book as 2 years or 20,000 miles but left the car itself on fixed servicing so its showing my service is due in 8500 miles + when i asked for it to be put onto variable servicing i was told that the dealer computer would not allow them to do it .

sorry for the long post you may find henry's north to be fine . i just had a bad experience but henry's south are going to sort my service indicator out at the next service as they are not keen on changing at the moment & they are going to sort out my paint defect as a warranty repair

Mines is a 2.0 TFSI - Just paid £177.68 for first service yesterday at Newmarket Garage, Stirling....BUT that included all three wipers being replaced (so approx £140 for the service alone). Its on variable servicing so far as I can tell - probably makes a difference if they use longer life oil.

There wasnt a huge difference in price between the longlife oil and the standard . i was quoted £98 for a standard service and £107 for a service using longlife oil

what did you all have done on the first service? ive got my first service coming soon (20k) just wondered what they did apart from a oil change and oil as well as topping up the liquids.

I know my brake pads will need replacing, air filter will. but will spark plugs be changed? and what else? cheers!!

Have been looking around for a good price on a first service for my diesel scout. The quote from my dealer was £270 which seems excessive compared to what some of you guys have paid. How can it vary so much between different skoda dealers? 'service a car' sound good (£129 plus vat) and collect your car as well, does anyone have any feedback on using them? Bad sevice or paying over the odds just doesn't seem right.

i paid the equivalent of 60 pounds here in India which i thought was a bit much considering the first 3 services are supposed to be free, but after looking at the amount you guys have paid it seems i've gotten off pretty cheap

Just been quoted £220 for my Diesel Scout at Newbury... Seems a bit on the pricey side to me.

I paid £271 for my 2.0 TDi DSG last week at Winchester but that included a new wheel trim and an aircon service so it would have been around £180 for just the service.... mind you, the odometer was reading 35,600 miles* so it was quite good value anyway

* new engine at just under 14,000 miles meant the service interval was reset

I service my 1.6 FSI for just under 100E, here in Romania. I get Mann filters (air, fuel, pollen, gas) for about 55E, replacing them is free at their garage, and Castrol TXT for about 45E, same deal on changing it.

Brake pads front and rear where 90E front and rear for TRW pads, and fluid was i think 10E a quarter litre bottle, TRW as well.

Oh, E as in euro, I don't have the sign on my keyboard.

As discussed here I paid a lot less at a local VW dealer than my local Skoda dealer nearly £90.00 less, my local VW dealer had only just started taking on Skodas then too - £200.00-£250.00 for a first service just to change the oil & do a few checks is definately a no-no in my book.

Has anyone been offered the Skoda Fixed Price Servicing. Got to decide before mine is delivered but quoted £15 a month for 3 years at 8,000 miles/year. £180/year for serviceing AND other maintenance (not tyres) seems good. Wifes Fiat cost £350 for 3rd service!!
