| Hey all... At my first service a few months back I switched to the fixed servicing option. I was under the impression that cheaper (i.e. not long-life) oil was used which was partly why the service is not so expensive. Have gone into handbook which states that I can use VW 501 01, 502 00 or 504 00. 504 00 is the long life stuff, is it not? Does it matter if I top up with a different spec of oil that was used on the service, so long as it's one of the above?

| Unless you know the exact grade of oil that was used in the service, I would suggest you top up with the higher spec oil VW 504, as its backwards compatible with the other grades. If the service has been done with VW 504 and you put a lower grade oil in it, I would of thought that this would be more of a problem. The garage that did your servicing should be able to advise you further. ![]() I have been on fixed and variable servicing and have been advised to top up using VW 507 on both occasions (diesel engine) |

| Please see this that I have copied from the DieselSport 4 Group Buy feeler thread, it may help;- "Yup; I sorted a deal out with Robin Longdon of Woodcote Automotive who runs the Millers Oils website and on-line sales late on Friday, and will be doing a full post within the Freedom section in a day or two. The deal he can offer any Briskoda Freedom member is;- 15% discount on all of the Millers Oils products and 20% discount on Diesel Plus & Diesel Sport 4 (500ml or 5L bottles) based on the RRP (inc VAT) on the prices as listed on Millers Oils ENTRANCE . 48 hour delivery is £7.95 inc VAT. This, for example, put the price of a single 5L bottle of DieselSport 4 delivered at £63.75 inc delivery and VAT. Clearly this is not as good a price as the 'group buy' that Tom_vRS has got going, so for all those that have expressed interest in this please go ahead. However, if you want anything else e.g. engine oil for which Millers do VAG specific oils (504.00 & 507.00 compliant etc.), Octane booster if you have a petrol engined car, good if you run a TFSI vRS and want some extra kick and much more, then have a look at their website. If you want to buy something then please contact Robin Longdon on 01606 836637 and quote 'Briskoda Freedom' to get your discount." |
