Best Gadgets For New Octy Vrs...

Hi all,

Now my vRS shopping has started in earnest what extras do you feel are indispensible on your vRS (not including those that skoda are currently giving away). Before people go made I woulf only have £500ish free after the car purchase (subject to the purchase price) Thanks to all who have helped so far...

OEM Bluetooth kit from Stu (if you have maxidot)
Forge DV (essential imho)
MFD2 from Ebay

or £500 would get you a stage 1 Revo

Re: Best Gadgets For New Octy Vrs...

Forge Diverter Valve mate.

The OEM diverter valve is a weak point on the car, I had 2 fail (a rev B and C) and there are plenty of people here who have suffered as well with this problem on the 2.0T motor.

If you ever went down the remap route, then the forge valve is really an essential item as the oem part does not cope well with extra boost pressure. My first one failed before any tweeks took place.

It's a fairly inexpensive mod, and it's much better to have it than boost losses etc.

not scare mongering mate, it's just a weak point on an otherwise outstanding engine, I am missing mine

Re: Best Gadgets For New Octy Vrs...

If you are talking about how to spend £500 wisely at the time of ordering for factory fit then I'd say Maxidot and possibly reverse parking sensors. Light Assist is also a nice little option.

MaxiDot has to be a must have IMHO.

Re: Best Gadgets For New Octy Vrs...

£500 'free' after car purchase (lets assume you have it spec'd up with maxidot, xenons, parking sensors etc. etc.; well .... for my advice ...

get an 'Advanced Handling Skills and Road Driving Experience' one day course with RideDrive for £335. Full details can be found on their website here;- Ride Drive Ltd UK, Advanced Driving Course, Driver Training, , Defensive Fleet Driving Course

You can spend all the money in the world on your car and 'extras' to make it go and look better; but this is worthless if you cannot use the car properly and safely.

Nah, you're all wrong. 1st priority with a VRS is to install a Road Angel

Well actually your wrong It would be a Talex, then you would still have enough cash for and OEM Bluetooth and an MFD2, or a set of ARB's and some fuel

Another vote for MaxiDot and the parking sensors here.

You will kick yourself if you miss these out.

Do a search for maxidot if you haven't already done so.

I would upgrade the headlamps for winter - Osram Night Breakers look promising although I haven't tried yet.

Re: Best Gadgets For New Octy Vrs...

If you have maxi-dot, reverse sensors & maybe sunset (privacy) glass on an estate, then I would suggest a set of Koni FSD dampers - I haven't got them yet, but they're top of my shopping list and are widely praised on this and other forums.

Definitely Koni FSDs; I have them with original (not lowered/sport) springs and they soften the ride wonderfully whilst stiffening responses when the going gets tough. Worth their weight in Gold - which is just the colour they are.

Only after you've backed in to a wall. Necessity IMHO with privacy glass as you can't see a thing reversing in the dark on a dark road.
