| First off I'll just say that I've been reading this forum for a while and it is an excellent resource. This morning whilst driving to work some f**kwit decided to drive on the wrong side of the road and headed straight for me. In the ensuing braking chaos I somehow managed to break the windscreen wiper stalk and the said f**kwit drove off in a hurry without me getting my hands on them or taking their number plate .Anyway, i've managed to source a replacement but I was wondering how easy/difficult would it be to replace the stalk myself? It looks as if I would neeed to remove the streering column housing but I'm not sure how I would go about this. Am I better off taking it to a stealers? Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

| If you are not confident playing around with airbags then pay somebody to do it as an airbag module is very expensive and dangerous too. There is a guide on : Octavia-vrs.com That details taking the stalks off for fitting cruise IIRC. Anyway if you do take a go at it yourself make sure you disconnect the battery and give it half hour or before you touch it.

| Thanks for the reply. I did check Stu's website but it looks as if the cruise control fitting guide has been removed. Anyway, if it involves removing the airbag then I think I'll leave it to the pros. Thanks again. |
