Default Clutch slip, flywheel or ?

Hi,

Quick question. Mrs A has an Octavia 2.0 TDI with around 20K miles on it. Sometimes when cold there seems to be a bit of clutch-clip, a kind of jerk as the power is taken up. Its started doing this about a month or so ago and as it goes away we haven't worried about it too much.

Is it something to be scared of urgently or can it wait for a service (probably not until new year) ?

Cheers

A.

One of the ways to test for clutch slip is to stick it in 5th at about 30mph, floor the throttle and see what happens. If the clutch is OK, the engine will grumble and not much will happen. If the revs rise but your speed doesn't, you have a slipping clutch. It could just be that the bite point isn't quite where it used to be, and that's the cause of the jerkiness (i.e. taking your foot off the pedal before the clutch is fully engaged.)

Sounds like the DMF to me, I'd get it into the friendly dealer and get it checked out, but this isn't uncommon at all on the 2.0 TDI.
