| ive got an odd problem with the cruise on my octavia mkii. ive sone a search and couldnt find anything similar so im just asking the question before i take it back to the dealers. sometimes when pressing the set button (quick press) to turn on cruise the car accelerates and keeps going and i have to brake to turn it off. it seems to mainly happen when pressing the button going downhill and then other times it doesnt do it?? this happened to anyone else?

| Sorry I missed the downhill bit, yeah a touran i hired did the same, so what goochie says sounds correct. For piece of mind i would phone the dealer and ask them, maybe ask if they will check it out for you as better safe than otherwise

| its definately not gravity as you can feel and hear the acceleration from the engine. eg it will go from 30 to 50 in a very short space of time! ill get it back to the dealer to be checked as its still in warranty. thanks for the confirmation that its not right though

| The issue with the faulty stalks was with failure of operation, not heard of random operation like that before.

| If you interuppt the cruise control at say 60mph by touching the brake, slow down to 50mph, touching the top button on the rocker with resume the previously set 60mph, touching the bottom will set a new speed. HTH. ![]()

this is what im doing at 30mph and then it accelerates. previous to that ive been on the motorway doing 70 on cruise and braked/changed gear to 30mph then pressed the set button which is when it races off.

| My Elegance does exactly as Yashicamat and Makefish describe. The 'quick press' on the upper rocker is the equivelent of 'Resume' on other systems I've used. A longer press (I think the manual says 'over 1 second') will do the equivelent of 'Set' and a 'Press and Hold' is the equivelent of 'Accelerate'. The lower rocker seems only to be used for 'Decelerate'. Pushing the On-Off switch gently towards 'Off', but not over the click point, or touching either the brake or clutch pedal will switch off cruise but store the last speed until you 'Resume' with a quick press on the upper rocker. |

Er, pressing the lower rocker (on the end of the stalk) will "set". Upper rocker IS "resume". Whilst the cruise is active (ie. the cruise light is on), pressing the rocker up will accelerate, pressing it down will decelerate. To knock the cruise off, you can touch your brakes, disengage the clutch or flick the cruise on/off switch to the middle position (so it bounces back to the "on" position), or completely switch the cruise off... | |

| yup, it was me not using the cruise properly and not reading the section of the book until the end. for some reason i had it in my head that RES meant reset and not resume Ive today been using it properly via the set button and the res to get back to what i had set before. its now a lot better to use now that i am using it properly!

| Indeed, you need a post-June 06 factory build (ie '07 spec) for the CC light Quote:

| As someone else said Top = RESUME bottom = SET If you have previously been cruising at 70mph and press resume at 30mph it doesn't half accelerate!!!!! I have retrofitted cruise with no lights to say its on.
