Default ESP - can it be switched totally off?

As per title. Clearly there is an ESP Off switch in the cabin, but this does not totally remove the ESP actions, all it seems to do is allow the wheels to spin. When trying to provoke lift off oversteer fo example, ESP cuts in, even in the off postion, which quite frankly is annoying. Anyone got any ideas? Pulling fuses is not an option, as ABS and EBD is disabled too.

If you dont want to pull a fuse I'd say not as the ABS is integrated with the ESP.

I dont think it can be turned off totally, even more expensive marques have this issue.

If it's anything like on the Mk4 Golf based cars then yes you can. On the Mk4 Golf you simply change the soft coding of the ABS controller to ABS only rather than ESP or ASR.

Isn't the ESP on the Mk4 different to the New Octavia - i.e. ESP1 and ESP2?

Yes but I imagine the principle of soft coding is the same. You would need the soft coding from the ABS unit of a non-ESP Octy 2.

I found this most annoying when I had a MK5 GTi on loan at the airfield
