Default Fitting Nokia CK-7W to new Octavia Elegance

Due to pick up my new Anthracyte Oct Elegance with loads of goodies* (replaces std Admiral Blue 1.8T '03 Elegance) tomorrow

Now for all my cars, I've fitted the car kits myself. However I've heard that the newer VW/Skoda/Audi etc now use a bus connection.

Previous installs I've done have used an ISO radio mute loom to power the carkit, and pump the sound through the cars speakers.

Has anyone got any good step my step guides for fitting the nokia kits, with vehicle speaker/mute connection, to the new Octavia?

Kind of begrudge paying someone to do it when round here they charge £75-150 just to fit it!

Thanks.

You'll find the pin outs here Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide to connect to the radio. Simply take the mute enable direct from the car kit and connect it to the stereo, cut off the Nokia speaker and connect in the same fashion.

You'll need a plug and the correct terminated cables which are cheap enough. No messing around with those silly auto mute leads.

Power for the car kit can be taken directly from the fuse box, again using the proper connector and there is a fuseway for a phone.

I've posted recently with help for a Nokia CK Kit I think, should have the part numbers you need. Try the search or the handy numbers section of my website.

Be careful taking the trim off, there are some hiddedn screws.

Oh and welcome.

Thanks.

Just looked at your site, and you've a guide on the fabia site (akin to my Octavia 1), but not one for the Octy 2 - but from one of the pics you have a 126/7w kit installed I see.

Oh and the MFD2..... mmmmm gonna have to think about that upgrade long n hard *drools*

I have a SE HCB-700 in my Octy.

I did take some pictures etc for a guide but one or two didn't come out as well as they should have so I've never bothered to do it. I should do really as it's a common enough question.

Why thank you...

Anyway you will have the last laugh as at some point I'll be trying to fit a kit in mine.

I've hear there are quadlok audio mute leads around, so no messing with wires and quick install.

Has anyone used the canbus audio lead? Or should I spend a little longer doing things right?

One other question regarding the mic. As I have the curtin airbags, how the ****ens do I route the mic along the roof lining/pillars?

I'm sure there are Quadlock Audio Mute Leads but they really aren't necessary and it's just another bunch of wires to squeaze in behind the radio. You'll still need to go back the the fusebox for a power supply as there isn't a switched live on the Quadlock.

I don't know what you mean by CANBUS audio lead.

I fitted the Skoda kit to my 07 L&K on Saturday. Connections and fitting was not difficult, just had trouble finding somewhere to put the giant lump of quadlock adapters. Also never worked out how to remove the A-post trim (any ideas?).

We went for the Skoda kit, as it is neat, comes with a smart leather effect "pod" that the cradle mounts to, and actually has a cradle! Didn't get a blueooth kit, because I only get a few days use out of the phone, if its enabled, and the only place I ever charge the phone is in the car.

If anyone gives the skoda kit a go, it works well, mutes only when the phone is actually ringing (Nokia kit in the truck mutes the sterio at every opportunity, very annoying!), and interacts with the audience headunit as it should. Instructions were a bit hit and miss though - I didn't manage to remove the interior light or the a-post trim, so had to re-route the mic lead. Just made sure it went between the curtain airbag and the a-post, so it doesn't restrict air bag movement. The quadlock lump had to be pushed down a gap in the metalwork, behind the stereo, so that it sat behind the heater control panel, as this was the only space large enough to hide them, and still get the head unit in. The skoda recommended mounting position for the control box was no use, as there was something else there, and the blue ignition sensing wire seemed to do nothing useful. Finally, there were 3 yellow wires (2 with red or green stripes) that were not mentioned. I randomly connected the yellow to the other two in turn, until it all worked.

All in all, a pretty decent kit, with some car specific instructions. It's a bit pricier (£200 not installed, for a Nokia 6230i) but the mounting part really makes for a nice finish.

I would recommend it!

Phil

Anyone know what the connector on the end of the OEM microphone is?

Im thinking OEM mic with a parrot kit if it can be made to work.

Ta, nice to see what it looks like from different angles. Also, is there a list of phones supported available on the web? I know the list isn't comprehensive, but it would be good to know what the list is, or even which manufacturer's kit is used...

I think there was a list of supported phones on the accessories web site. It's badged as "Elan", if you want to do a web search..........might even be cheaper! (If so, please don't tell me).
