Default Fuel Cap Won't Open

Anybody got any suggestions as to why the fuel cap won't open even though the car is unlocked on an Octy II.

Don't suppose there is a wire thats can come loose on this one as a dealer was messing around in the boot to fix a different problem recently.

The cap on my Octy 2 does not have a lock on it at all. It just opens when you push on the rear edge of the flap. Should it lock? It is a 2.0Tdi estate.

When the car is unlocked the fuel flap will open when you push down on the back edge ( LHD side) of the flap, it then springs open.

To close just push the flap back in until it connects with the flap catch.

Note the fuel flap does not open if the vehicle is centrally locked.

I think there is an emergency release thingy inside the boot. Sounds to me like the lock is not disengaging.

I'd agree with you manny hence asking if there was a wire etc that would have been easy for a dealer to dislodge.

Any idea exactly where under the bonnet that emergency release is?

If its anything like octy 1 or my golf... pull off the boot trim behind where the fuel cap is located and you shold see all the wiring there.

My fuel filler cap is always getting stuck, I have to press a good few times before it opens. Sometimes it comes open while driving.

I keep meaning to put a dab of oil on the latch but keep forgeting.

Another thing to be looked at come service time (the list is getting longer)
