| hey there guys. i just ordered the elegance octavia with a lot of extras, but i did not add the sunsafeglass. what i am wondering for it is not if it is dark from the outside but whether it does do what it is supposed to do. i mean, when i think of a double glaze glass i understand that it reduces heat, sun, UV, and (importantly) wind and road noise. so does it? does it have that much a difference from a standard windshield? what do you guys think, and if anyone has it, do you regret adding it or not? my extras include a 650 euros package that has the coming home function, auto dimming rear view mirror, auto tunnel lights and rain sensors. i am thinking of canceling that for the 1200euros sunsafeglass. that is because i live in cyprus and i wont be needing the tunnel lights cause we only have one tunnel, it rarely rains to justify the rain sensors, and the auto dimming...well, no biggy. but i will only change it if the windshield really does what i told you before. what do you think? thanks for your help. |

| Despite being called tunnel lights, they are actually auto lights. As in they'll come on whenever the light drops below a certain level. Not heard of the sunsafeglass you refer to. Sounds like privacy glass option you can get on the Estate/combi which is merely a tint. It is only on the rear doors and load area windows. I suspect this is actually what you mean. Unless you have a link to a brochure for your regions spec? |

| IIRC sunsafe glass is different to the sunset privacy glass we get in the UK. I think it is actually insulated and reduces UV light levels in the car. The sunset privacy glass is just normal glass with a slight tint from the B-pillar back. Sunsafe is yet another option NOT offered on the Octavia in the UK (read: bluetooth phone prep) to keep Skoda lower down the food chain from VW

1200 Euros is about £937. Whatever sunsafe glass does, I can't imagine much justification for it in the UK at that price!

| We still have the occasional summer or two here. If it's insulated it might reduce some of the excessive cabin noise the Octavia is cursed with. Climate aside, it would be nice to be given the choice, especially the Bluetooth kit.

| i do understand what andy says but i think you should at least have the option to include it. after all, every one wants a car customized to ones 'character'. yeah, it is different than the sunset option as dstev points out. so i gather there is not much info around for this extra, is there? anyone a techy, who could contribute his two cents? cheers everyone. |
