| Briskodian | Im never going to use a main dealer again The Octy has been with the Milton Keynes Skoda main dealer for the last 2 days for 1st service & warranty work. The passenfer wiper was smearing bad but I faild to mention this when dropping off the car as I was in a rush, but never bothered to call as I knew this would be covered by the service. Went to collect the car, looked at invoice, no wiper mentioned, I said have you not charged me for the wiper, the guy said why was there a problem, I mentioned it was smearing, he said you never told us about it?. Went to the car, wipers not working, which takes the p!ss as new windscreen justed fitted. Fire up the car wipers working, I showed him the smearing, guess what he said they only check the blade, they don't look through the window!!, I said thats bloody crazy & how do you check screenwash, anyway they replaced the wiper FOC, but this main dealer service is a joke. I also complained about the front headlight's filling with condensation, guess what, nothing done as condensation not there, they say car already has modified headlights so no need to replace. N/S/R tyre noise & wearing unevenly, asked them to check tracking/geometry, they said it a fault of the tyre but no where does it say tracking etc checked. On the Octy there is a parking ticket holder which holds ticket against windscreen, new screen fitted, holder useless as gap so large ticket just slides down. The service indicator also tells me service due in --- miles, so yet another visit to have this reset. They did contribute 50% towards service, and thats the only reason I used them as it made financial sense. Last moan, when warranty work is done, courtesy car is FOC, but have a service done at the same time, courtesy car is chargeable |

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again i was offered a courtesy car when i complained about all the small faults on mine just after i got it. their attitude was to leave the car with them for a full week and they will look into it. i eventually got most things sorted out myself and the odd one or two things i got done on a saturday morning at my localish skoda dealer. wasnt impressed as its a 20 mile drive and they wanted the car dropped off at 9am on a monday morning when in fact i need to be at work for 6. made me laugh considering i bought the car from them too. |

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again I think a couple of your concerns are a little unfounded or perhaps you might be expecting a little too much. I think you are being a little un reasonable with the wiper issue. Checking of the tracking would normally be a chargable item and not really wty or service item. the --- miles is common and the car should calculate the correct amount soon. The ticket holder is a pain, I've had to replace a couple on my cars as they have a habit of cracking and rattling. It has a small tab which actually goes into the bonding on the screen.

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Plus they wouldnt have done the windscreen it would have been sublet out. Personally if i see a smeering wiper blade and the customer hasnt advised it on the required work I dont bother mentioning it either. I dont get any time allowed for fitting them so the customer can do them his/herself its not exactly difficult especially with aero wipers. If a tyre is out of shape then it will cause a noise, a wheel alignment check is not required. If the tyre is faulty it will require a new tyre and i'm pretty sure warranty wont cover that. | Briskodian | Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Fair points guys, but i did ask them to check tracking, but nothing was done?. Re wiper, I thought dealers where keen to up sell, and dont get me started on labour rates, when i take my other car to an independant, all of the above mentioned what have been sorted and checked, will put it down to experience. |

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Was the car booked in for tracking? Was it on the job card you signed before the work was carried out and were you quoted how much it would cost you? |

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Then it should have been done. I would calmly ask why it wasnt carried out. There may well be a genuine reason like the ramp wasn't available to the technician. That sometimes happens if the alignment ramp is also used as a main ramp in the workshop. |

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Also ref the headlight condensation the headlamps arent sealed so an ammount of condensation is allowed. Sounds like they have checked the vent pipe mod on the headlights and that is as it should be so they wont change a headlamp that isnt condensated. |

| Briskodian | Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Well, they did have the car 2 days, so there should be no reason for not checking, have put it down to a poor experience. Re headlights, you might be right, but in winter the condensation was truely awful, particually so in the morning. |

| Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again Our wheel alignment ramp has been out of action for a week due to a calibration issue so there can be a reason. However they should have gone through if there was an issue like that. It might well be a genuine oversight on their part, we are all human. |

| Briskodian | Re: Im never going to use a main dealer again the dealer near to us which i bought the car off looks at me dumb when i take the car in... it has a fault which to be fair is intermittent and never shows up on the computer...... basically it has difficulty starting sometimes when it is parked backend down hill .... it turns over ok but wont fire... i get it to fire when i dab the throttle... but the dealer just wants me to leave until it dies completely... the car is less than 12 months old and i don't know when it is or isn't going to start... but the dealer refusues to do anything... wont do any fault diagnosis... surely they must have someone who knows what it is likely to be... to me (ex aircraft engine tech) its seems like no fuel... but they are not even prepared to look at parts or change something on spec.. i just have to be in-convenienced and keep taking it back to them..... un likley to be dealing with them again if i buy a skoda... |
