| Sorry if this has come up before, i've had a search but couldn't find the answer i'm looking for. I'm a bit thick when it comes to electrical gubbins so what i'm going to ask will probably be really obvious, but......... I have a 2007 Octy with the Aux socket in the jumbo box, does an Ipod just plug straight in to that jack socket or do i need to buy something else? I haven't got my Ipod yet so i don't know what the connections are like. Cheers |

| yeah just use the 3.5mm jack socket on the ipod. This will not give you control of the ipod via the head unit though. Just audio out.

| If you get a Line Out adaptor cable that connects to the bottom of the iPod you will get a much better sound. |

| I have just bought myself a nice new ipod to go with my nice new car. Does anyone know where I can get a line out cable that plugs into the docking connection at the bottom of the ipod. I have been looking everywhere with no luck. I envisage a short length of cable with a 3.5mm headphone socket on one end and docking connector on the other. Apparently you get better sound compared to using the headphone socket (cable a 3.5mm headphone plug on each end). If anyone is using one of these cables does it really give better sound? |

| Instead of your CD Changer you can connect your ipod IIRC ![]() www.vagparts.co.uk or ebay: eBay.co.uk: Genuine VW Ipod Adapter Original Volkswagen (item 110137130193 end time 19-Jun-07 22:10:03 BST) or ebay again: eBay.co.uk: LINE IN AUX Adapter for VW, AUDI, SEAT, SKODA iPod, MFD (item 120130950923 end time 21-Jun-07 14:09:54 BST)

| Cheers for the replies. I have a vrs so have the aux connection in the arm rest so really looking for a cable that will plug into this. I have been told that the line out feed from the docking connector is best but can not seem to find one. |

| You don't need anything special then, something like this will do. 3.5mm mini Jack to 3.5mm mini jack lead 1.2m gold plated - usb firewire scart av audio cables and accessories They are really cheap, places like Dixons/Currys/PCworld sell Belkin ones. Alternatively - iPod Base to 3.5-mm Jack Lead

| I just bought one of these bad boys! Works a treat! Amazon.co.uk: LOGIC 3 MIP117 MADE FOR IPOD,IPOD RF REMOTE CONTROL: Electronics & Photo But I would still use the head phone socket, rather than the lineout. A bit tooo quiet that way!

| Having just picked up my new Octy today I have been looking for a similar connector. In addition to the items already mentioned found this: SendStation PocketDock USB and Audio Line Out MP3 Additions As well as line out connection & audio cables it also enables standard USB cable to be used to synch / charge. |

| I've been using one of these - as locks to a suitable length and folds away nicely:- a Ziplinq: Amazon.co.uk: Ziplinq Stereo 3.5mm Digital Audio Cable for iPod: Electronics & Photo you can control the sound through the steering wheel or headunit, and the Aux 1 sound setting is just about right. | Guys - trying not to hijack the thread but it doesnt warrant a new one - when you connect the ipod to the car's aux socket; can you control the ipod on the cars stereo (im presuming and hoping yes?) or does the playlist just straight through unless you skip tracks on the ipod itself? Many thanks and great info on cable options. ![]() Lee

| IIRC Skoda now offer an Ipod connector in the jumbo box. Not sure if its as well as or instead of the 3.5 jack. |
