| My 05 Octavia 1.9TDI seems to be plagued with problems and I am starting to regret buying it. I would like to know if anyone else has suffered from so many problems or have Skoda supplied me with a "monday morning/friday afternoon special" 1 Oil cooler fell of drivers footwell after 10 hours form new. 2 Problems engaging 3rd gear. 3 Both front windows "screech" when operated. 4 Passenger side front speaker split. 5 Hissing sound when above 50mph from rear passenger window. 6 Turbo bearings playing up requiring replacement Turbo. 7 Drivers door internal handle sheared off. 8 Front electric mirrors operating with no input from driver. All of the problems have now been sorted by Faintree Garage, but my patience is starting to wear thin. |

| I have the 2.0 but I have not experienced any of these problems, the only thing I do get is creaking when cold from suspension or something when going over speed bumps leaving my house, this goes away after a while and it also rattles a bit when up to 3500-4000 revs. I feel your pain, thats a bum deal.

| Thats a bumb deal and I would be pretty worried that the oil cooler just dropped off ![]() If you wanted to put your mind at rest you could get an AA/RAC inspection done and then if they say the car isn't up to scratch reject complain to the garage, or possibly even consider rejecting the car any major faults are bought to light.

| I had a primera like that a few years ago, everything went wrong on the bloody thing. I fully sympathise and I hope your troubles with the car are close to being sorted.

| I've had mine 6months - 3500 miles so far its had 2 trips to the garage: *problem with speakers *problem with drivers air bag currently waiting for a sensor for the exhaust system (part coming from Germany apparently I've been waiting for nearly a month to hear its arrived) - i'm driving around with the exhaust emission light on - when it goes in I will be mentioning a rattle by my right ear seems to be have appeared since the drivers air bag wiring done and also the heat element in the driver back seat no longer works I'm a little disappointed with the number of faults given the mileage/age. |

Drivers window was also a litle squeeky but again, dealer oiled and fixed under warranty. Have to admit, my old shape Octy only had one problem (a new turbo), nothing else. My current one (04 reg) had has the window, wind noise, the chrome come of the strip on the dashtop box and the cargo net thing in the read whell arch break. Not as good as my old car I'm afraid, but the dealers are fine and all replaced on warranty so can't complain but Skoda are certainly letting slip or maybe it is just becuase you and I've bought 04 year models and so they were still quite new.

| I noticed that myself over speed ramps when cold, but goes away after a while. For a while I thought it sounded like the Bootlid moving about on dry rubbers.

| All sorts of stuff has happened to mine. It's always an adventure waiting for the next bit to drop off or stop working. Now the dealer has decided that the cambelt change interval is actually 60k miles, which is comforting to know at over 89k miles.

| The cambelt thing was due to a recent(ish) change so the dealer is just passing on the new policy, IIRC it's max 4 years as well but there is a post about this somewhere here ![]()

| Yes it's a dictation from Skoda, but the whole ownership experience has been amateurish from dealers and Skoda alike.

| Update-update Driving down the motorway this morning and the windscreen washers both packed up Hopefully some charva will rob it off my drive or torch it for me this weekend. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS ####### CAR and I am going to get onto skoda uk and see what they have to say about it. I am currently in the middle of purchasing my wife a new Fabia VRS and unless I get a proper response the sale will be cancelled. |

| Did you buy it new? If so trading standards dictates a car should be fit for purpose for reasonable time which IIRC was taken to be 6 years. If skoda don't fix you up then get onto Trading standards as IMHO they should exhange it for a newer car (good will gesture) and take that one back tot he factory, pull it to pieces and find out why things fail so they can fix these issues with newer cars or fix the staff that built it.

I had a couple of other faults, a bent wiper arm and the early build heater problem where cold air hit your feet and hot air your face. Both fixed no problem. 27 months and 33,000 miles down the line I am very happy with the car. Sounds like you have a dud.

| I'll have to get mine booked in for the hissing rear passenger window. It has really become noticable these last few weeks, as if the window/door is slightly open can even hear it at 30mph now. Only issue I have is I do not want them to replace the glass as I have had the Pentagon SupaGlass Tints fitted, is it just the rubber seals they change or the Glass itself? Car has now done 40K and is 2 years old on 18/12/06 so still just in warranty.

A point to note here Ladies and Gents who may be reading this, my car is quite clearly a lemon and if it wasn't for the good will of my dealer I would be up a certain creek in a special sort of canoe so with my woes in mind put a great deal of thought in to dealer choice. The "help line" don't appear to care less and cannot see why I am losing my rag with the constant journeys back and forth to the dealer. I have tried to explane that the arrangement with my employer is that I get paid for attending my work place not a Skoda dealer.

| Sod the help line, you have a contract with the dealer so speak to trading standards, then go back to the dealer and reject the car (assuming TS say you can). I totally agree about attending work not the dealers as i had a spate of that where the dealer is unable to fix anythign at all.
