| Well DVLA are very efficient. My car was registered on 29th June 2007 (for the purposes of dealer bonus etc) - but was stuck at port in Grimbsy due to floods in the area. Handover is Friday 6th July at 11:00am. What do I find in my post this morning - the V5 doc from the DVLA Very strange feeling - haven't even see the car yet.

| Risky stuff, the car is yours even if it turns up in a 1x1m cube! ![]() Shouldn't be anything to worry about - but hope you got a good discount! ![]() |

| Not quite. The DVLA paperwork says its mine, but my debit card and signature say it's their's still I "buy" it on Friday - and yes I will be test-driving it first and pressing/trying every button (particularly the Tunnel Lights/Light Assist which appears to have a habit of disappearing from spec )Total Discount was £3,805.88 (and free servicing etc) If the Tunnel lights are missing (which I don't really want, but they don't know that) then the discount will have to be even bigger !

| I picked up my Fabia 1st March, and the V5 was waiting on the mat at home, when I got back! They said "expect the V5 in 5-10 days" though |

| The reason it had to be registered last month (irrespective of even arrival on UK soil) was for them to acheive bonus targets on both new Octavia and finance for the quarter. By hiting their targets they recieve a nice lump sum form SUK for the fins and between £100 and £250 per car retrospective registration bonuses for the quarter's deliveries. So if they sold say 100 Octavias in three months they get at a £10k-£25k bonus. If the finance offer hadn't continued, I would have had to sign fin docs and pay deposit "sight unseen". (although technically if you do buy a car "sight unseen" - ie web/phone order you have much better rights including returning the vehicle within 2 years for a full refund and the dealer has to actually prove in court otherwise if they do not wish to payout )I agreed to their terms in exchange for a nice discount.

| Before my car has even had its original plates applied at PDI I have taken advantage of the new V5 and assigned my private plate to the car. The car I have yet to see. Even more surreal is the DVLA office gave me a nice new tax disc for free - without even seeing the old one. So now I have two tax discs (well the Skoda dealer has one)

| It is a little bit naughty what they've done though.
