| Hi Guys, As the heading says, I'm in the market for a new car and have come across the new Scout. I would like to pick your brains as to what options are worth having, are discounts possible and what are your experiances with regards to reliability, build quality fuel consumption etc. I am looking at the TDi model with a published combined MPG of 42, what is the real world avg. What is the general thinking to the likes of Sat Nav, and Blue Tooth, are you guys going with factory options of more in favour of aftermarket and if so which brands? Sorry guys’ lots of questions but hopefully you can fill me in as much as possible. I am currently working abroad so wont be in a position to see/drive the car until July but having this info up front will help me so much. Thanks in advance. Don |

| First hand information on the scout is very thin on the ground so unfortunately you won't get much in the way of feedback. As it's based on the normal Octavia you can't really go wrong with it. The 2.0 TDI would be my engine of choice due to the combination of grunt and economy. My 2.0 TDI used to return a good 50mpg when drivern carefully. I am waiting on my third Octaiva now (all company cars) which says a lot as they have all had a hard life as other mobile service engineers will testify!

| Don The Scout is very new and I've not read of any owners on here. The Bluetooth hasn't been a UK option and therefore probably wouldn't be commented on. The sat nav is expensive but if you look on my Octavia website you'll have some handy retrofit info to hand.

| Phone kit wise, I'd recommend getting a phone firm to istall a Nokia or Parrot kit for you. |

| Cheers for the response guys, I'm getting the feeling after spending time reading through a number of threads that there just doesn't seem to be any major problems with the Octavia. Other than some noises towards creaks and groans it looks like Skoda real are very reliable, economical and outstanding value. I didn't expect a lot of Scout owners as the car is so new but it would have been nice to at least chat to one. VRstu, you mentioned the retro fit Nav system, does this work out cheaper than the dealer fit price? If so, how much is saved? I think Parrot is the way to go on the Blue Tooth front. Thanks again and please add more if you feel you can. Don |

| All of the retrofit info can be found here: Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide And a sample of the available units is here: eBay.co.uk - Skoda MFD2, mfd2, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Car Parts items at low prices I did mine last year and it came to about £450 all in so much cheaper than the £1350 that a factory fit would cost (and it stays off the P11D value) HTH ![]()
