| Hi all, My new Octy II VRS estate in black magic arrives tomorrow!!! (Xenons, Jumbo box, 18" alloys and Maxidot for £17,600 fat ones OTR including delivery (uk car)) I did the Autoebid thang and I have been mightily impressed so far . From all I have read (some of it on here over the past couple of weeks) it should be a blast! I did my research before going for the Octy and it's the first new car I have ever had! Although I will be teating it like a baby I know soon enough I will be sorely tempted for a remap, miltek exhaust (if they ever make one) etc etc.... Quite like the sound of the swedish tuning company someone posted about, especially the insurance they offer if the engine goes pop! Will let you know how I get on tomorrow!!!!! Olski |

| Thank you all for your warm welcome to Briskoda. The car arrived safe and sound yesterday with only 25 miles on the clock! It really is very smart, clean, fresh smelling - er.. like a new car! Seriously, tho it's the beginning of a love affair - I hope - and I will post some pics v. soon. First impressions are great - the motor is nice and torquey - the interior is quite plush with minimal amount of tackiness and seems well stuck together (though whether the quality is up to VW and Audi standards is a test of time I suspect) and the best thing, which I remember from test driving the hatch, is the handling - that really put a smile on my face (but then having always owned older cars I was quite impressed by the handling of my wife's 206 GTI!!). I have a couple of (inevitable) questions: One thing I can't find in all the literature is anything about running it in! I seem to have picked up that for the first 1k miles, you should keep below 4k revs and only use part throttle - is this correct? Also - service intervals - the manual seems to sggest first one after 20k!! I know this might be optimistic if the default setting is variable service intervals but does it need an oil change or anything like that after the first 1k miles? ... and a couple of minor gripes... It does not appear to have come with the Maxidot as ordered - this was beginning to p@SS me off until I noticed that it does have cruise which I hadn't ordered which was especially good since I was thinking of having it retrofitted:-)). In any case I'm not sure I really understood what Maxidot was supposed to do anyway!! Also, the central locking on the remote seems to be set on the "open only the drivers door" option which is quite irritating with a toddler + car seats etc. Having looked in the manual it seems this can only be switched back by the dealer - can this be right? Finally I think lowering the car 30 - 40 mm would help the overall look - even with 18s still looks a bit Like an Audi Allroad......... Overall for the money it appears to be a steal - I'm well chuffed. |

In answer to your queries I would answer them as follows:- 1. Youv'e answered your own question really, gradually increasing engine speed to 5,000rpm after 5-600miles should be fine and don't give it 'the beans' until youv'e done at least 1,000miles. 2. On variable it will tell you when the first service is needed and I'm pretty sure you don't need an oil change after 1,000 miles. 3. If you are happy that youv'e got cruise in place of Maxidot then leave it but I would have a moan to your dealer who supplied the vehicle, he won't be able to get it retro fitted but he may well offer you a sweetener in the form of a free accessory that you may want. 4. Double 'plipping' will open all the doors, but I must admit I find this a bit of an annoyance. You are correct in saying that it can be changed but only by a dealer or someone profficient in Vag-Com. 5. I agree, car does sit rather high but you do get used to it. Hope these answers help but most of all enjoy your new car, it's a cracker!.
