| Calling those in the know. Mine's fitted with the standard Dunlops on 17" rims. What sort of life expectancy is there on these? I reckon I'm over half way to replacement at 6500 miles on the drivers, although the power/torque hike may make a difference. Can anyone recommend better rubber (grippier, quieter or longer-lasting) than standards? Cheers. |

| With all that power I am surprised that the dunlops are still on your car!!. I have O/E Dunlops on 17" Pegasus alloys on my 2.0tdi and the fronts went onto the back at 10,000 being two thirds worn.Mileage now approaching 14k and I have ordered a set of Vredestein Ultrac's as an experiment. Vredestein have come out top three years running in the Auto express group tests with Bridgestone and Michelin well down the field. The bottom line though is that if you want grip, .. And I am sure you do!!.. then your best tyre will not last too long. Best bit of advice I could give you until I have tried the ultrac's is that ANYTHING is better that the O/E Dunlops. |

| What model Dunlops are on your car? I've just had a full set of SP Sport 3000A put on mine and they seem to be worlds ahead of the Bridgestones that were OE on my Elegance.

| 270hp - Care to elaborate?? I have OEM Dunlops on mine and seem to be struggling for grip on the front. There is always a trade off between longevity and grip - unforunately you can't have both. For me I would sooner have grip so I think based on other owners reports I'll be looking at Toyo T1R's when the time comes.

| my Octy is wearing Dunlop SP sport 01A, (or is it 07?) it is hard to tell due to the style of writing. Another thing which I failed to mention is that my Dunlops seem to be developing cracks in the tread grooves, dealer says no warranty on tyres and i just want rid of them anyway |

| Interesting.... other car is a Touran. At 1st service (9.5k) all 4 Sport 01A tyres defective with cracks between tread. Got the shove-off from VW that they were a "wear and tear" item, so only covered for 6 months. Told them that under Sale of Goods Act they'd supplied them with a defect from new, and that they were clearly not fit for purpose... (not so sure I'm 100% right, but they swallowed it!). Got 4 replacements fitted free. Now replaced the fronts with Michelin Primacies - loads better. Much quieter and I think I get a MPG or so extra out of them. Wouldn't touch Dunlops again. | From a recomendation in a previous thread, I fitted Michelin PS2's and have been very impressed with grip and longevity. This will make interesting reading I think.
