| I have a 52 plate mk1 vRS and when I had it serviced had a good look round the demo car at Benfield in Newcastle Black on 18's with dual zone, jumbo box and rear electrics..just under 17 grand with 2k miles on the clock..it has all the toys I want..and I am sooo tempted and so is the wife she loves the look of the new one as well....but I secretly yearn for a V6 and I can get an 8 month old ST220 with all the toys, red full electric recaros and 5k miles for a grand less than the vRS...and to be honest its driving me insane..I have never had such a difficult choice...the ST220 is going to sting me for fuel and it will cost more to tax but I cant seperate them...nybody else had to pick between 2 cars and it was sucha close run thing? any ideas for a rough trade in on a 52plate vRS with 31k on the clock? or will I be better off going for a private sale? and whats the 2nd hand market like for used vRS? to make matters worse...Turners in Sedgfield have a blue one in..and I suspect if the wife clapped eyes on it she would want it...but I think its bog standard..no big wheels or anything |

Skoda Octavia vRS 1.8 Petrol 5-door Hatchback 5 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive Year: 2002 52 Mileage: 31,000 Estimated value of your car Part-exchange Price: Excellent condition: £6590 Average condition: £5910 Below average condition: £5180 Thats the glasses guide price. As for what to buy , the new octy is excellent , but there are plenty of them out there so take the time to find the car that suits you and then start haggling. No need to buy the first one that comes along

| Good luck with whatever you choose, but IMHO the Mondeo, albeit a good car, is due to be replaced next year so expect it to be hit fairly hard on depreciation + there are things you can do to 'tweak' the vRS's 2.0 T FSI engine should you want that bit extra .I bought one of the first ex-demo's (exactly the same spec to the one you describe) but paid £16K so if you really want it start haggling hard, and push 'em to the max with the trade in. Edit: By the way forgot to say that the new 2.0 T FSI engine is an absolute belter, go try if you havn't already done so.

| Yes and the Mondeo is an "Old" car, well into its life-cycle. The Octavia is a new car (from the ground up, so to speak) and has better saftey and protection equipment. |
