| Creaking suspension - plenty of mentions here. Aircon flaps sticking resulting in hot air only

| Turbo's failing - my dealer said there was a history of this on the 1.9 engine although not on the 2.0 (like mine). Cruise control stalk failing. |

| Has anyone had any luck having that sorted ? Mine wouldn't do it when the garage had it out for a spin (wet day), although when I went out it initially wouldn't do it but then with a slight acceleration while going over the ramps its seems to do it. They sprayed some lube but it didn't help at all. Last night I found accelerating over uneven surfaces as opposed to just letting the car coast over them also seems to make it creak. It was bad last night with the Cold Dry evening. I was also going to mention the rattle in the rear seats clips...but theres been no fix for it yet AFAIK. Sorry for going slightly off the topic.

| Added a couple of those on now thanks. Already had the Cruise Stalk one, Alex have you had the vent flaps sticking on yours?? I've heard of it on the Fabia but can't recall it on the Octy.

| I assume it was the vent flaps causing the aircon problem as turning the engine off and on again would produce a clicking noise somewhere under the dash and it then worked fine. The car is in for it's first service next friday so I'm hoping that they will get the creaking suspension figured out. It wasn't the bushes causing it so it might be the steering rack as mentioned in my thread specifically about the problem.

| There is a TSB on that one Alex. Already on the list but basically involves modifying the Climatronic Eprom settings at the dealers.

| I had something similar with my Stream. Cured by replacing it with a MFD2. ![]()

| First of all, excellent initiative I don't know whether this counts as a common fault, it only happened to me once, but I seem to recall someone else mentioning it: DSG gearbox refuses to change gear when hot (1.9 tdi 105bhp). After about an hour's stop/start driving with the DSG left in Drive on the Paris périphérique last summer when the outside temperature was in the high 20s/low 30s, the DSG box gave up changing gear, staying in 1st all the time though it was possible to shift between neutral/reverse/first. Manual changes were also affected. Temperature gauge showed 90 degrees. Stopping the car, switching the ignition off, then restarting cured it -- but since this coincided with an end to the traffic snarl up and the start of more fluid traffic conditions (and hence airflow through the radiators), it's difficult to say whether it was overheating, or just an electronic fault that needed resetting.

| Thanks John, whilst not wishing to dismiss your problem I would prefer to keep it to the ones we commonly hear of so as not to give people the wrong idea. Thanks for your input. Tezza that certainly sounds interesting, please do let us know how you get on.
