Dunno, but I'd ring around the usual suspects If you're the first, perhaps they'll do you a good deal if you have enough time to help them prototype it?

I've enquired and Jabba have done one in a Golf that is around the 190bhp mark. As the PD140 is just a modified 130 engine anyway it sounds about right. REVO quote around the same.

I don't think the pd140 is a modified 130 engine, the 140 is a new 2.0 engine and is not based on the old 1.9 "platform" (150hp, 130hp,115hp,105hp, etc)

The 2.0 140tdi has 16 valves and the 1.9 has only 8 valves, the 2.0 has diffrent cylinder sizes and a lot of other differences from the 1.9, and what I can find on the net, vw say is a completly new engine.

I think the next 170hp tdi will be based on this new 2.0 "platform".

Hi!
2.0 140 tdi with particulate filter (engine code BMM) has 8 valves. Engines without particulate filter has 16 valves. This is the case in Sweden and the same goes for Passat 2.0 140 tdi with filter as well. Power and torque is exactly the same.

Wow this is an old one.

The 2.0 8v is only used in the superb in the uk.

I was reading this a while ago in an audi magazine. The 2 litre was based on the 1.9 with a longer bore from memory. That said I think most stuff was new, just saving money on the block.

Hi!
In Sweden all models of Octavia without particulate filter has the 16 valves version. I don't know why they changed that when the filter was added.

Does anybody know the reason why they have done this change?

When I compare the 16 valve version with the 8 valve, the 8 version is a little more powerful in lower rpm range, but seem to have about 5% more fuel consumption. My driving distance is 10.000 miles. Can I expect better fuel economy after driving more miles?

I can mention that the oilconsumption is very low, 0.3 liters in 10.000 miles. A strange thing is that the engineoil which usually becomes black very quick, looked very good up to 7000 miles.

A guess from my side is that it's important to keep oilconsumption very low to keep long distance before regenerating the filter. Could that be the reason why the choosed to have 8 valves?

From what I've heard, there is much new designs in the 2.0 compared to 1.9.

Best regards Anders Pihl
