| I think you'll find the steering is electric, not hydraulic - hence no fluid.

| The Fabia we used to own had electric steering with a steering fluid reservoir (partly hidden by the battery). So, is the Octavia different? |

| Traditional systems are purely hydraulic as in a pump connected to the engine via a belt provides hydraulic power to the rack. Electrical systems can be electro-mechanical or electro-hydraulic, the latter replaces the belt powered pump with an electrical one. Electro-mechanical systems are limited by the amount of current available from the electrical system as the motor directly drives the rack. If there is no dipstick for the Octavia II then one must assume it is electro-mechanical.
