Car: blue Octavia (170 BHP)
Default Ouch!!

A numpty pulled out of his drive today without checking if any vehicles were coming and consequently completely failed to notice the race blue vRS combi proceeding in a westerly direction, e.g. me . I was even driving at below the speed limit (about 35 in a 40).

The consequences of his actions to my car were: -

And . . .

Tyre damage caused by him forcing me to leave some tyre and wheel here: -

Oh well, at least nobody was hurt and he did admit it was his fault (couldn't really do anything else given the circumstances). Now in the hands of the insurance company and car hire people.

Most annoying thing was that I was on my way to see two possible clients for some consultancy work and now I have to reschedule those visits and my diary is pretty chock-a-block at the moment.

I have a saying that you should "always watch out for people wearing hats whilst driving" (any age, any sex), to that I shall now add "and Honda's"!

Bet you had some choice words to say to him! What was he in? Did it come off much worse?

What happend to the other car?

Actually I remained calm throughout, as I didn't see that any amount of vitriolic sentiment would have furthered anyone’s cause. The driver was also somewhat elderly and did admit it was his fault without any prompting.

He was in a Honda Jazz and by the looks of it didn't come out too bad, due to the angle of impact: -

Default Re: Ouch!!

That's a real shame mate.

THose wings aren't the easiest thing to change as they require quite a bit of cutting to get them off so make sure you have a really good look around after the repair.

I would also been keen to insist on a like for like tyre to match the non damaged one.

I'm going to insist they change both front tyres as the drivers side one has been impacted, as can be seen by the blue paint left on the tyre from the other vehicle, and could have structural damage. This could be the only up side to this - two new front tyres.

The car is being collected tomorrow for repairs and they'll assess the work required and advise how long it'll take. But I'll take heed of your comments about a close check when the car is returned.

Repair centre took car away yesterday and expect the repair to take 7 to 10 days.

I now have an S-Max TDCi Titanium automatic to run around in - have to say I'm bored with it already . The autobox doesn't seem to do it any favours, although it rides well, but consumption (according to computer) is only around 36 m.p.g
