Default paintwork - warranty dilema !!

Unfortunatley, a very nice young lady wasn't concentrating yesterday morning and hit the back of my Octy VRs.

Now I'm a pragmatic kinda guy, no one was 'badly' hurt (although my neck's really stiff this morning and my left arm feels weird) and she reacted just in time to kind of 'skim' my rear driverside with her front passengerside - although there was still a big bang. She came to a stop a full car length ahead of my static position so if she hadn't steered away I'd very likely be in hospital and my Octy would probably be dead. I was more concerened for her than anything else, she was in a bit of a state, shook up.

Having had a look at my car it appears that it's relatively unscathed, new bumper, new light, etc. But the boot floor looks ok so I may have got away without structural damage. However, my rear quarter panel may need paint and this is where my concerns start

her car was a mess, with the wheel arch nearly touching the wheel !

The insurers have told me that repair works are only guaranteed for 12 months !! what I want to know is where I stand as my Octy is on an 06 plate and I thought I had something like a 5 year paint warrenty - anyone know what would happen if I suffer paint problems in the repaired area after 12 months ??

Cheers Guys

Id push the insurers on this, seems a short period of time as all the car we have had repaired have had a three year gurantee on them.

Ask for the car to be repaired at a Skoda approved bodyshop via your stealer

The other party's insurer and my insurers legal company are happy to do that, .... will it make a difference to the repair warrenty ?

Many thanks.

If skoda approve it then it 'should' be covered under your skoda bodywork warranty, check this first but i believe it to be the case

Yep, I thought the Skoda warranty was 12 years, so definitely push for a Skoda approved repairer.

Sorry to hear about the accident though. Glad everyone is on the whole, ok.

Cheers,

The really horrible bit was seeing her heading towards me (I was in static traffic) in the rear view mirror and not being able to do anything about it !! - Woke up dreaming about it this morning - I've been driving 21 years this year and never been in an accident until now.

Could have been much worse though, if she hadn't steered into the middle lane she'd have hit me at about 25 mph full on and it'd be a very different story

Glad everyone is ok!

Slightly off topic, but that sort of accident scares me to death! The reason beign...HPI checks.

When you go to sell your car and someone perfoms a HPI check, doesn't it check for any insurance claims?

I know when I have been looking for a 2nd hand car, I have had them checked and at least 2 times I have pulled out of a sale due to an insurance claim against the car. This must affect the re-sale value of the car which isn't compensated for when the claim is made?
