Default Panel lights too bright?

I find that the panel lights are too bright at night even with the dimmer switch at it's lowest setting. In fact there seems to be very little difference between maximum and minimum brightness. Are all Octavias like this or is it just mine (or just me!)?

Maybe a bit of "each to their own" - I have mine panel lights on the highest setting all the time and they are fine to me.

Suppose there could be a problem with the dial that controls the dim - is there little or no difference when you slide the wheel up and down?

There won't be a massive difference as the dash is lit with LED's and the minimum brightness will be limited as you will get a more pronounced flickering the dimmer they go.

I always have mine cranked up and they are fine. It could be that the brightness of the xenons dominate and the dash doesn't seem as obvious.

Just my personal taste of course.

Thanks for replies. There is a difference between max and min but nowhere as much as the Fabia we used to have and a Mk 1 Octavia. As you say it's a matter of personal preference. The system is also different as older cars used a straightforward dimmer rheostat on actual bulbs rather than LED's. I presume that the present dimmer system is completely electronic.

Yes indeed it is. I think the dimming switch actually changes the duty cycle of the LED's meaning they flicker at different rates giving the impression of more/less light.
